Hotlinking is where you embed a picture (ie, display it) when the picture is still stored on another web-site.

It's a bit rude, because you are taking their bandwidth, and they're not getting anything in return. And if you do it to certain web-sites (like SomethingAwful.com) you're in for a rude surprise.

No, Photobucket is fine, because that's what it is designed for. Hotlinking would be if one site had images up that were actually stored on Daizenshuu EX's servers. That way, whenever anyone looked at that site, they'd actually be taking bandwidth from DEX.

Hotlinking can definitely get you into trouble. Only twice has anyone used images from my server. The first time, I replaced the image with naked Gohan (it was someone I sort of knew, and I was just being silly). The second time, a guy giving a middle finger (because it was a jerk). And I know someone who's a lot worse. Lots of fangirls put his Inuyasha images in their signatures on forums, and then he replaces the image with the goatse man, and people cry in horror. I'm not trying to scold anyone, but just be careful...

Err, anyway. That picture is amazing.
