Season 3 Release Date Announced

Post by PythonMonty504 » Thu Mar 29, 2007 3:28 pm

Strange, while surfing around amazon, I found a listing for Dragon Ball Z: Season 3 (containing the entire Freeza) and it's already has a release listing of August 28 and is up for pre-order at $37.49 (same price as Season 2).

Here:

Only $40? That's pretty cool! I wonder why they had a listing on it when the second one isn't even released.... :?

Depending on what episodes are on this set, it may be the one box of these new re-re-releases that I'll get.

Woo... On my birthday!

Hehe... I never get to say that.

But, yeah... It does seem a bit odd that they're announcing it this early, but, whatever.

This will be the first boxed set that has all of the episodes not from the UUEs, meaning that we'll most likely finally see some of that "revised" dub with voices like like the narrator, Vegeta, and Piccolo, to name a few. I doubt we'll see that many re-re-dubs from the season two set.

(looks at the season 2 and 3 prices) Ick, it looks like the price is slightly boosted up from $30 to $40 after amazon's (and probably everyone else's) price cut. Regardless, I'll at the least get the second season, since it actually revolves around the dragonballs and everyone cleverly hiding/(re-)stealing them, etc.

What pisses me off is how long we have to wait. GAH! Hopefully I won't be forcing myself to finish my individuals collection.

It's a 3 month gap for each set, we're talking 32-35 episodes every 3 months, that's not a very long wait. To those of us whom are actually collecting each of these sets, we won't have to wait long for the whole series if FUNi keeps this pace, as we'll have all first 107 episodes before September. If the fourth season has at most 41 episodes worth, we'll have half the series by the end of the year. IMO, this is an excellent pace.

Understood. I've just been overly anxious about owning the entire series as fast as possible, afterall, it's been almost a decade now. It's pretty ridiculous *sigh.

Many episodes for little money. Episodes unacquirable in R1 before now.

Not to mention episodes now available in both Japanese and in English w/ the Japanese BGM. (For those that want it, like me.)

Dunno if I'd say excited, but I am still looking forward. Those of us collecting these sets have given our reasons at one time or another in countless posts, we're also well aware of the negative aspects, autopilot telecine "remastering" and 16% loss through cropping; we know. When it all comes down to it, some of us just want the whole series in a consistent and affordable form, and that's what these sets are offering alongside a pretty good release pace. If anything, what I'm excited for in future releases is (like Roshi said) getting never-before-released uncut episodes with Daimao's fantastic subtitle work, as well as the whole dub w/t Japanese music, I know I've been waiting years for that and welcomed it with open arms on season 1.

Erm... season 3 is the Freeza-saga, which has been available on uncut DVDs before. (Although they were missing the eye-catches.)

I look forward to Season 3 if only because I can never find any Freeza dvds around anymore. I partly attibute this to my local Suncoast being closed forever. (FYE can never compare to Suncoast. )

Back when they first came out I was still in high school and didn't have a part time job. No part time job = not enough spare money to spend on dvd's.
On hiatus.

I'm gonna preemptivley pull the 'consistency' card.

If you mean that you want the whole show in the same format, then I agree with you there. I'm propably going to buy all these sets myself too.

Well, no, I dont want it for reasons I've already mentioned, but that's one of the big selling points for some people here.
