What's the deal with Gamers?
OK I just have been handed the winners of the gamepro readers choice awards. (from my newest Gamepro) According to this SuperDBZ came in third for best fighter of the year but also is number one for worst game of the year. I'm confused!
They are 100 times worse games out there but besides that it like the readers are split in two. Maybe some one could enlighten me on this subject. *sigh*

Basicly it's like Kendamu said plus the fact that there weren't very many fighting games released this/last year, ie given how few (known) fighters were released last year it's not all that suprising to see one on a worst and best list.
Hell I remember Game Trailers Games of 2006 awards having the samething, like Final Fantasy XII on the best RPG list and Most Dissapointing list, and that makes sense because FFXII was a big game but also dissapointed people.

I'm also guessing that part of the reason Super DBZ was treated so harshly is because, as a DBZ game, people have come to expect every new DBZ fighting title to be like Shin Budokai or Sparking. Since that formula was thrown out the window for a 3-D version of something a bit more traditional in terms of fighting games people were like, "Blech... I actually have to press more than two buttons to do a Kamehameha? That's blasphemy!"
^Yes, that is very true. It even seemed very odd to me at first given how used to the Budokai series I had become (even though I was a fan of lots of other traditional fighters) but basicly I relized that it's kinda like Soul Calibur mechanics with DBZ, and I say SC (and not SF or whatever) because SC uses those mechanics while also using that 8 point movement system that it's well known for, which is what Super DBZ also features. I wish Budokai had it too.
Super DBZ defenitly isn't my favorite of the DBZ fighters (to me the animations are a little stiff/awkward and a lot of the special moves don't look like or animate like what I'd expect, for instance the Kamehameha) but one thing that's kind of hard to dispute about something it does better with then the others is in that of the levels/stages/arenas as they all look very distinctive from one another, while the battle damaged aspects or individualy animated based on what all is being damaged, opposed to Sparking where they basicly just copy and past the same battle damaged texture over whatever has been damaged.
I think the absence of an actual Story Mode put off a lot of DBZ fans too, along with the small cast count compared to the other games, the manga look vs the anime look, etc, etc. Like I for one am glad it tired to be different then the other two series, but apparently US fans didn't feel the same, and I say US fans, because in Japan the game did quite decent/well.
