It will be her last mistake. (Season 2 Box Set)

Post by Zeroplus » Wed May 23, 2007 9:52 pm

On Disc 3 - Chapter 3 Title 17 right near the end when Vegeta goes to get Freeza's dragon balls, Vegeta says "Oh Freeza, you're so overconfident in your abbilites that you left even your precious dragon balls unguarded. Well I assure you it will be HER last mistake."

So, does mean that FUNi is even more lazy with their dubs... or just a read error from whom ever does Vegetas VO?

Anyone else notice it?

I would be shocked if Chris Sabat got something like that wrong. Are you sure he didn't say, "Well, I assure you it will be YOUR last mistake"? :shock:

Can somebody put this up as an audio sample, please? I need to hear this for myself... O_O;
Art, etc. links taken down for now. Will be updated at some point. I dunno.

Yeah I just saw that, it's says YOUR, but I guess it kind of does says HER, but funimation wouldn't be this retarded to screw up, I mean there retarded but not completely retarded.

No doubt about it he's calling Frieza her. I think the whole line is off though. Vegeta’s thinking about Frieza as if he's talking to him and then he shoots off in typical 3rd person thinking. I'll go with saying it was a messed up line to begin with. So it’s the scripts fault not Mr.Sabat’s.

Edit: The line would make more sense if he said "your" so I'm going to take it back and blame it on the V.A

... DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD:

Holy crap, he DOES say "her"... how the hell did they miss that one?! @_@;

Geh. Even for someone who isn't screaming fire and brimstone at FUNi over this whole season set issue, this certainly discourages me further from paying 30+ dollars for this release. I think I'll just stick to collecting the rest of the FMA series for now... 8D;;;

No, I'm pretty sure he's saying "your," but Mr. Sabat "overgruffed" it a bit, so it does sound like "her."

You think they'd catch that, though.

This definately makes me glad that I stick to the subtitled version.

That's hilarious. And a little sad.

I'm curious, how many episodes in this set are part of Mr. Sabat's "time-travel adventure" in which he and only a few others redubbed themselves?
On hiatus.

Why, so you can't understand any of it instead of just miss hearing a word on ocassion? :P

Anyway, he's clearly not saying 'her'. He's saying your but more along the pronounciational lines of yur or yer, ala 95% of the English speaking population. Still, it sounds nothing like 'her'.

Thing is you hear him say your/you're twice before saying her. Clearly he says her. Unless you're from the middle-south states in the US. I've listened to this over and over even trying to hear you're, and I can not hear it at all. But her is clearly said. There is no U or Y sound, hard or soft at the beginning, only a soft h sound. If anyone wants to comment on the sound other than saying "He says Your!" or "Mr.Sabat is unable to mess up" feel free to do so.

Not that I expected you to know this (so don't think I'm an asshole) but...

Considering that I'm majoring in Japanese (though I'm still a novice) and I am a fast reader I can give up hearing the show in my native language for an overall better audio experience.

:P That's just a technicality! No ruining my fun! :P

Actually, it is, quite clearly, your. There's just no mistaking it. I can hear it as plain as can be. You're probably catching the snort/laugh right before it as a soft h sound. It's not, it's a laugh. The previous two yours sound exactly the same (though not quite as quickly spoken) as the one in question.

On another note, you'll need to change your avy. Size limit is 80 x 80. :wink:

He says 'your', but he says it with a little huff. This makes it sound like 'hyur'. I've been known on occasion to say 'yer' (due to my accent), which sounds an awful lot like 'her'

I hear "her"... but whatever. At least he's not "seeing their parachutes" or anything.

Yeah I definitley hear "her"... :lol: *sigh* Sabat for shame! :roll:

Well that's the least of my reasons for not getting this set or the one that preceded it. Like it will make a difference! :x Of course for those who gave in, at least there is the subbed version. 8)

Yes it sounds very close to "her", but it's not folks. He's almost putting a kind of huff at the beginning of it, so there's an "h" sound so it comes out as a fast "hyour". That's what you're hearing. Take it from someone who was in speech and theatre school for years. You get trained to pick up on speech patterns, inflections, pronunciations, and such. 8)
Jerseymilk: "Can I tell you something?"
B-kun: "What?"
Jerseymilk: "I see Fangirls."

Couldn't you just put on the captions for that scene and read what he's saying?

This reminds me of one scene in the afterlife tournament when Sean Schemmel's Kaio goes "Fat Fucking Half Pint" when he really says "Fast Talking Half Pint".
