Favorite American Opening?
Okay, this is for everyone! Even those who hated the American openings!
If you had to choose one American opening for the US Dragonball Z dub to be the opening for the entirety of dubbed Dragonball Z, which would you choose?
For those who do hate the American openings, the question is more like this: Which opening did you hate the least?
If you have to, I guess you can choose two or three. Explain your answers, though.
Personally, I choose Rock the Dragon. While definately the symbol of Saban Ball Z without a doubt, I think out of all the synth-rock openings that there has been that this one is the most energetic and has the most action-packed visuals to go along with it. Sure, it's not the Cha-La Head Cha-La visuals like with other openings, but I never thought those visuals worked well with random synth-rock openings (the Rock the Dragon closing doesn't count because they sped up the footage).
Now, if they were to take the current opening song and visuals from the current season sets and speed up the tempo a bit it would actually seem kind of catchy and I wouldn't immediately change it to Cha-La Head Cha-La every time.
Oh, and that song that's on the season set menus and in the trailers... I would've rather had that as a dub opening than the one they have now. Sure, it's not the Japanese ones by a long shot but it's a lot better than throwing random crap up there that doesn't fit the visuals at all.

My choice is... Step into the Grand Tour
Ok, now seriously... XD
I'd probably go for Rock the Dragon too. Patially because it actually is a song with lyrics. It was definately no Cha-la Head Cha-la by any stretch of the imagination, but it's still perfectly fine for the series.
(Of course, the best dub opening from the entire DB franchise would be english version of Makafushigi Adventure.

What on Earth are you talking about? No one brought up anything like that, this is a thread about which American opening of DBZ we like or least-hate the most. Please stay on topic. The Time Traveller wrote:This is clearly bothering you all, we should complain to Funimation and make them get every single voice re-dubbed like they promiced. And no names like Kuririn or Tenshinhan. If only, They really are a bunch of liars.

I would've liked a new, remixed version of Rock the Dragon myself. I like it a whole lot better than a lot of the English dub openings.
I don't know. I found Step Into the Grand Tour rather awful myself, and the Canadian theme just plain scares me. The instrumental themes especially the ones for the movies I didn't find much of a feel too. The opening themes they had for Bardock and Trunks were jsut to awful I have to fast foward or skip the chapter to get away from it.

Ooh! That one! See, I was thinking about songs related to Dragonball Z so that's why I got confused.Timo wrote:I believe he talk about this.^^Kendamu wrote:Wait. Either I'm really tired or I don't know what you're talking about.
When I think of Rock the Dragon, I think of the Ocean Cast and my first exposure to Dragonball Z.
Also, the instrumental opening for movies 6 and 7 (might've been used more, but I stopped watching the dub so I don't know) was pretty tolerable.

Sound like you're more against FUNimation than any poster here thus far, since you took a thread not relating to such and attempted to steer it in that direction. The Time Traveler wrote:This is clearly bothering you all, we should complain to Funimation and make them get every single voice re-dubbed like they promiced. Well, if DragonBall were included, I would have to go with Jerseymilk and say my favorite was "Gotta Find That DragonBall".
But since we're focusing on Z, I'm kinda torn between the awesome dance theme that they have on the Burdock and Trunks specials, and the song they started using when they really got into dubbing the movies. It's the same theme used for the Season One Boxset (don't know about Season Two 'cause I don't own it yet). It's a refreshing rock instrumental that seems like they put a whole lot more thought and intelligence into their composition. Don't know who performs it, though.

BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

I would agree in saying that I would like to see Rock the Dragon, but I also liked the movie opening. I had no idea something halfway decent could come from Mark Menza.PythonMonty504 wrote:Mark Menza wrote it I believe.kenisu3000 wrote: It's a refreshing rock instrumental that seems like they put a whole lot more thought and intelligence into their composition. I really like that opening and I was just about to make a topic about this opening and the one that's being used for the Toonami broadcast right now. I just popped in my Lord Slug VHS and it was the same opening as the Toonami one. What are the titles for these to songs?kenisu3000 wrote:... the theme used for the Season One Boxset (don't know about Season Two 'cause I don't own it yet).
