Glenat to continue milking manga

Post by Dayspring » Sun May 27, 2007 11:13 am

Despite how Glenat's version of volume 16 only comes out June 6th, they're already going to continue to milk the DB cashcow by rereleasing the manga as DB and DBZ format. DB volume 1 is a joke: a reprint of their original version of the tankoubon (may even still be in left-to-right format again), while DBZ volume 1 is slated for August.

If it works, it works, I guess, as DB volume 1 is number 10 in their top 10 sales. Note that they've been re-releasing Dragonball over and over since May of 1993.

This shouldn't piss me off, as I have all their tankoubon already, but it reminds me of how they decided to only publish 2 of the daizenshuu. If they're still making multimillions of the manga, imagine what they'd make off original material if they translated the rest of the daizenshuu.

For those wondering, I went to their site for Neko Majin and Daizenshuu news. :P
Turns out they translated the Neko Majin tankobon last year. I ordered it off Amazon.ca just now for the slightly expensive price of $17.05 Canadian. Before taxes+shipping. -_- (Usually a book of that size has a store price of $14 after taxes).
