...and another apology if this is old news.
But I thought you guys would like to know that Blue Dragon might be the last anime Toriyama works on, at least on a directorial level.

During an interview with Anime Supervisor Yukihiro Matsushita, Toriyama made the remark "This may be my final anime."
Toriyama said the following regarding Blue Dragon: "The offer to direct an animated version of Blue Dragon came in February of last year. Studio Pierrot approached me regarding it. I knew that Sakaguchi had been working on assembling staff to produce a game, although at the time Blue Dragon hadn't yet been formally announced. According to the materials, it was to be a fantasy world like "Lord of the Rings", with a detailed world view and story."
"This may be my final anime, I'm a little worried (about it). There's incredible pressure, but at the same time, there's a sense of accomplishment -- that it's worth doing. Blue Dragon will be a masterpiece, not simply because I'm working hard on it, but because the staff is expecting nothing less."
I know it's not DB-related, but if Toriyama decides to never work on an anime again, this greatly affects any future DB anniversary movies, etc.
EDIT: The first 7 episodes of Blue Dragon can be downloaded here:

I dont know if it does. I
think Toei could make a DragonBall movie if they wanted to.

True, but they'd have to do it without any input or sketches from Toriyama.

This has been
discussed in the past.
Here's what I had to say
The article seems a bit.....misleading. Toriyama has never
directed an anime before, beyond providing designs & some input to the story, just like with the Blue Dragon game.
On top on that.

Now, if you look at their info on the Blue Dragon anime.
Director: Yukihiro Matsushita
? I'm assuming Anime Supervisor is just another fancy way of saying Director. Kinda contradicting if ya ask me.
That being all said, I doubt this'll be Toriyama's final anime. I mean it's not like he indicated in someway before in the past where his anime days were over.

Man, why couldn't I find it with the search button?
Sorry for the repeat.
And ANN got it wrong in their info section: Toriyama says he directed it and this article doesn't originate from ANN itself (it was simply re-printed on ANN). At the very least, the info should say they both directed it.

Meh, I still have my doubts. It just seems odd. If he did direct it, he probably meant the storyboards, rather than the animation direction. Not that I'm claiming to know how the process works.

Well, even if this is Akira Toriyama's last anime, he had a good run. And from what I've seen of the BD anime, he's leaving on a good note.
I doubt Toei won't do any DB specials because of this, it won't effect their decision much.
On a side note, VIZ is dubbing Blue Dragon and it's airing in America this fall! I'm happy because VIZ is good at dubbing, from what I've seen with Naruto.
