What If...Vegeta killed Cell (two scenarios)
Let's say Vegeta ended the Cell Saga, not Gohan. And furthermore, let's pretend he did it in one of two ways:
1) The Final Flash's aim is perfect and completely disintegrates him. The Cell Games never even happen.
2) After the death of Mirai, an enraged Vegeta "mimics" Gohan and goes SS2, and manages to overpower Super Perfect Cell.
What would implications would these two alternate endings have had on the rest of the DB story from there on out?
Just wanting to get some discussion going.

The second scenario wouldn't change anything much. It would just mean Vegeta is stronger in the Buu saga since he wouldn't waste 2 months training to achieve SSJ2. Although, it does create a small possibility that his self-destruction might have killed Fat Buu.
The first scenario would probably result in everybody getting killed off during Buu saga.

Well...rage alone doens't increase ones power lest your name is Gohan or Boo, so the second scenario is non sensical, especially since Goku would have turned Ssj2 if he was at a power level capable of such, and Vegeta was much weaker than him.

But for the first one, that's quite interesting. It would be rather anti-climactic, but another villain of some kind or another threat would have to come along to justify the existence of two warriors superior to Vegeta (Goku and Gohan) coming out shortly thereafter. Another Artificial Human? Early Majin Boo? who knows...it would an interesting idea.

I like the first one a lot better then the second one because it would give us new stuff that we haven't seen yet. If Vegeta destroys Cell with the Final Flash, then Gohan would still be a Super Saiyan, Trunks would have never shown his real power, Gohan wouldn't have achieved SSJ2 in the saga, but maybe later on, and Goku would still be alive.

So essentially, the events of DBZ movie 8 and the "OVA" (VHS released footage later-to-be recycled for a Playdia game, whatever) would've then occurred?SuperSaiyan3Goku wrote:I like the first one a lot better then the second one because it would give us new stuff that we haven't seen yet. I think that it wouldn't matter at all if they reached SSJ2 or not. I'm sure that they would have achieved SSJ2 by training in seven years. Remember, in one year they reached all the stages of SSJ1, so they would easily achieve SSJ2 until Buu saga. That's what Goku and Vegeta did.
And since so many say that SSJ2 come with training and not with rage, except for Gohan, they would have reached it.

Transformations are a different factor. The fact that the initial Super Saiyan transformation requires rage is only a factor during one battle. At not point before or after that did Goku's power fluctuate by means other than the Kaio-ken.Thanos6 wrote:Um, didn't Freeza find out the opposite the hard way on Namek?Duo wrote:Well...rage alone doens't increase ones power lest your name is Gohan or Boo
As Gohan's power can change drastically with emotions, there's no saying whether or not the transformation to Level 2 requires it, so no matter how angry Vegeta got, it wouldn't push him beyond his limits.
...
I didn't really want to type all that out...
Right; so why wouldn't that also apply to Vegeta hitting SS2?Transformations are a different factor. The fact that the initial Super Saiyan transformation requires rage is only a factor during one battle.
Goku + high power + deep emotional rage = Super Saiyan.
So why shouldn't Vegeta + high Super Saiyan power + deep emotional rage = Super Saiyan 2?
Unless I'm missing something really obvious, as I've been known to do...

Well, for one, Gohan was the strongest Super Saiyan when he started his battle with Cell, as pointed out by Kaio and Goku himself. Vegeta and Goku still had to train considerably hard before they would be capable of reaching it, in Goku's case he had training in the Afterlife giving him the advantage, whilst Vegeta (debatably) had the Majin power upgrade. But let's not open that whole can of worms of when Vegeta went SSJ2 or not, point is Gohan was the strongest level 1 SSJ when he was ready to ascend. Should we also count the whole hidden powers aspect as a factor?Thanos6 wrote:Right; so why wouldn't that also apply to Vegeta hitting SS2?

I think that to be able to reach SSJ2 you should reach a certain powerlevel.
I think that Gohan had a maximum powerlevel. Goku and the others were able to powerup to their maximum powerlevel, but Gohan was not, hence the fact that they thought he was weaker than he actually was.
When loosing control, Gohan got rid of the barrier preventing him from powering up to his maximum powerlevel.
During the assault on his friends in the Cell games, Gohan lost control and was able to powerup to his maximum powerlevel.
I think that this maximum powerlevel was enough for the SSJ2 transformation to occur, and it occured automatically. So Gohan didn't reach SSJ2 only because of his rage, but also because of that he reached the treshold for being able to transform into a SSJ2.
So Gohan's rage = Gohan's maximum powerlevel = enough powerlevel to reach SSJ2.
In the Buu saga, Goku and Vegeta had both reached the aqquired powelevel, so they were able to transform into SSJ2.
That's what I think.
