Episode #0081! VegettoEX, Meri, Julian, Jeff, and Joy (full house!) prance onwards into the lands of volume five for the "Manga Review of Awesomeness". The 21st Tenka-ichi Budokai concludes, and the Red Ribbon Army arc begins. Is the series starting to slow down a bit? Some June releases and your e-mails round out the episode. Referenced sites: Go ahead and grab it. Big thanks to godofchaos for hosting the splendid *eighty-one* episodes, now.

Apologies on the peak-y audio issues; just don't turn it up too loud, and you should be fine. It seems like we got a little more in-depth with our analysis than we have in the past, so that was super-fun. I dunno what else to say, other than go check it out! :D

Bueno...excelente on the whole Manga Reveiw of Awesomeness being done at last! Though, from the looks of things I think this one will be less in the awesomeness area. I will try to get a email in to the Podcast Emails. I'll be using my yahoo address and it'll be very obvious it's me. . Other than that...all I will do now is listen to the podcast.

Welcome to DaizenshuuEX the podcast and greatly expanding site of Dragonball...

Are we talking Chapter 459, Julian?

It was an awesome chapter. Already one of my favourites of the current arc. Also, cool to hear that you're getting back into One Piece, Meri. It only gets better after Skypiea is done.

LMAO clerk pronouncing HAREU KANAREU DENSETSEU.

*continues listening*

Pretty nice. Have to say Funi's name for Sgt. Metallic was better than the corny movie reference. Surprise attacks were cool too.

Here's something I thought of for top surprise attacks: Yajirobe cutting off Vegeta's tail. I mean, it seemed like Yajirobe had wandered off from the fight, and then BAM! This attack is especially surprising because Yajirobe actually DID something :P

I don't know why, but I really don't like the Red Ribbon saga... I just though the King Piccolo Saga was much more...filling? I think that'd be the word for it. I just wish Viz would have kept the entire series just "DragonBall" though. That mould have made it a lot cooler, and without the wierd picture in the printing of DragonBall 16 and DragonBall Z 1 on the spine.

"10 June 2007

Podcast Episode #0080"

I guess that should be fixed on the main site.

Great podcast, and the audio wasn't too bad.
I think I'll be buying assorted Dragon Ball things for the rest of my life.

:gasp!: A fifth guest who wasn't Andrew?!

Anyways, great manga review of awesomeness. Agent Purple is probably my favorite character from that arc. His whole game of hide-and-seek with Goku was hilarious. Also, Roshi's um... "zappy technique" used against Goku looks a lot like the Mafuba used later on. If only there was a random rice cooker in the middle of that arena...

As for the Red Ribbon Saga being synonymous with mechs, I can understand why. I mean, the final battle against the RR Army was fought against Adjutant Black in a mech, and most people associate what defines sagas with whatever the final fight in that saga was.

One more thing: was volume 5 the volume that mistakenly calls General White "Colonel Silver?" If so, I'm surprised that you didn't mention that. But if not, I hope you bring it up in whatever volume it actually shows up in, since Toriyama goofs are always interesting to point out.

EDIT: Heh, I like how (for lack of a better word) devoted Mike was in getting that response from the game store. When the phone call clip was playing, nothing could have prepped myself for how badly they mispronounced the game title. "HAruKAneru," eh? Is Mike still gonna go out to EB and wait for other customers to mispronounce Harukanaru Densetsu, or was the phone call enough for him?

Huh, but apparantly Metallic was "Major Metallitron" in the Dragonball dub. So apparantly he doesn't have a correct name in any english translation. Also, Peter Kelamis was Rolf the foreigner in Ed, Edd & Eddy (he's MUCH funnier in that).

YES....I just read it. YES.

Nice podcast too. Loved the "HAROOKANAROO" reference & every bit of that fan e-mail as well.

Future Gohan is noble. That's why I like him. He's much more of a hero than any other version of Gohan. He's a lot like Piccolo in that sense. That makes him really, really awesome. So, yes, I will continue to clamor for him. He's freaking bad ass.

I'm enjoying the One Piece manga so very much. X3
Oda's writing skills are amazing. He reminds me of Toriyama in earlier DB, but different. Took me a little while to get used to Oda's art style though.

Future Gohan is cool. I think Piccolo'd be proud of him (and not have to go through the embarrassment of his student's "alter-ego"; as much as I love Saiyaman, I have a feeling Piccolo wasn't too big of a fan).
On hiatus.

I didn't really start enjoying Dragon Ball until the Piccolo saga. That's when things really started to get serious.

The pronunciation of Harukanaru Densetsu was pretty funny, but do you really expect a typical English speaking person to be able to pronounce it?

Mike, your challenge for the next podcast is to say 'Ku Ri Rin', not 'Ku didin'.

Heh. At least he doesn't pronounce it "Curry Rin". :) As for me I just say Krillin, although I think it's cute to pronounce it "ku-RI-rin". If I ever adopt a cute little orange kitten, I'll probably name it Krillin. ... er, Kuririn.

This is an awful long podcast, but the podcast wasn't awful. It was a nice touch that Kyle Hebert posted the Fusion shout from Animazement over Memorial Day weekend, even though I had posted that moment two weeks ago under the "General Discussion" forum. I'd figured Mike & Meri didn't catch it the first time around considering they were on vacation two weeks ago for Memorial Day...

I rather liked the manga review this month. Incidentally, I got the Dragonball DVDs with the Red Ribbon Army arc on it, and it seemed a little filler-ific, but it was a fun watch.

Ah, the One-Armed Gohan. Why is it that I have this image of Gohan on top of a waterfall, pleading with an FBI agent shouting "I DIDN'T KILL MY WIFE!" And now the talk of Vegeta and then the Kamehame-dump... made me LOL this morning.

And speaking of Kamehameha, today is Kamehameha Day in Hawaii. So Kamehameha to you! :)

Arigatou gozaimasu. (Thanks.)

I'd love to hear some of that music as I'm going up the elevator at, say, AWA.... I never knew Dragonball Muzak existed. Thanks to this Podcast, it does. Ah, yet another fine service this Podcast provides. Again, thanks! :)
