Out of all the movies, which one(s) are most recommended?

Post by koden » Tue Jun 15, 2004 12:37 am

For Z, I've seen #1-4, the two specials, and the two Coola movies dubbed, but from the rest, could y'all give me some recommendations as to which one I might should buy?
The ones I'm most interested in are #s 7, 9, 12 and 13, but I can't seem to choose... btw, going by the DBZ movies, might those 4 be among the best?

I'm also very interested in the DB Path to Power film, but I I think I want one of the Z ones first.
Thanks for any help

I can only give you opinions on what I've seen, it would help if you explain what you like to see in a movie. I'll list the two I've seen, and why I recommend them.

7 - Super Android 13!
Even though you didn't list this as one you were interested in, this movie has a lot of good features. This movie gets into the action quickly, and the fight scenes are decent. Plus it's the only time you see Goku get nailed right in the...

8 - Broly The Legendary Super Saiyan
Aside from the fact that Broli is just uber cool, the animation quality is just top notch, it has plenty of story and action, and the dub isn't half bad either.

As for the The Path to Ultimate Power, I would recommend this one in a heart beat. The animation is just great, and it's a lot more interesting than watching the dragonball series up to the Red Ribbon sagas.

I just threw up in my mouth.

Personal feelings aside... Path to Ultimate Power is a fun movie. Its a very bare bones retelling of Dragonball up to the Red Ribbon Army saga. Some stuff if certainly changed around and some stuff is just skipped right over. Its entertaining, but more so if you've already seen the Dragonball episodes that the movie is based on. And the series is MUCH more interesting than the movie could ever hope to be.

The Brolly movie is overrated and boring. All of them are, as a matter of fact.

My personal favorites are movies 5 (Coola), 7(Android 13, The Three Super Saiya-Jins), and 9(Bujack) just because they're goofy and entertaining. On a whole, the movies just kind of gloss over what's entertaining about Dragonball in favor of more action and smoother animation. That's not to say that they're not fun to watch sometimes, though.

I agree, movie 8 is highly overrated. Its gotten hype by 12 year olds thinking Brolly is "so cool". Movies 12 and 13 were the only ones I actually enjoyed. Movie 9 was a nice departure from the norm, but sadly, still more of the same.

Oh hooray, I'm not the only one who disliked Movie 8. I found it so damned boring that it was almost as hard to sit through as Movie 4. I don't know what the big deal about Brolli is, either. But that's just me.

As for the anniversary special... Personally, I didn't like it that much. I definitely prefer the real series. But it does have a special place in my heart for having introduced me to DAN DAN. ^_^

If you want comedy go for movie 12. If you want plot go for 13. If you want SSJ2 Gohan go for 9. If you want action+ more Saiyan folklore go for 8. 10 is a mix of 8 and 12(comedy aspect) and 11 is a sucky rehash of 10 minus the good parts. 7 is nonstop action because they side-stepped around plotdepth.

Have fun deciding. My suggestion is 13 if you want action and something never done in the series.

I've only seen a handful - 6, 8 (both dub), 12 and 13. I'd defently reccomend 12 and 13. I personaly enjoyed 8 and I thought 6 was alright but nothing special. But defently check out 12 and 13.

I have seen all the movies and my personal rationgs follow-

7- Pretty straight to the point in fighting, a lot drags on as they really don't turn into super saiyans much later in the movie. Ends in Genkidama like others.
8- Cool fight sequences.
9- Martial arts tournament was awesome, see this movie.
10- funny 11- missing nothing special
12- Good see. Funny aspects. Great arwork and details of other world this is a good one.
13-Not to out-of-the-ordinary as far as DBZ goes, like watching a episode right after Majin Buu saga. I would recommend it.
DBGT Special- Cute

Eww God, the GT special was horrid, worse than GT itself. Go with Movie 13, it was just so original. An actual original story in a DBZ movie? Who'd a thunk it?

I dunno, I liked 3, 5 and 8 as well. Mind you I'm Saiyan Empire psycho.

I think the hole coward thing in the GT special was funny. I also like the bears and the villians, it could be the same movie without any dragon ball references. Movie thirteen was good.

I liked 3 because everybody was in it for once! 6 for the great interaction between Goku and Vegita. I enjoyed movie 8 myself. I loved 9, Gohan was just fantastic! And movie 12 I love for some of the best moments between Goku and Vegita and for it's sheer humour. I personally enjoyed all the movies witht the exception of 11, I try not to remember about that one.

I would also recommend not pre-judging any of the movies, whether they are over or under "hyped".

Yeah movie 1 was great. It suprisingly had a lot darker feel to it than your average DBZ. The plot wasnt that original. It reminded me a bit of the King Piccolo saga. All in all, movie 1 is definately a classic. Especially if you add in Gohan's drunkenness.

I'd suggest the Janemba movie (12?) and movie 13. Both were the best I think. Here's why I think so:

Janemba movie: Gotenks killing Hitler's Army, Pikkon swearing up a storm, Frieza getting whooped by Gohan and my favorite lines...
Vegeta: I wouldn't be caught dead fusing with you, Goku.
Goku: But Vegeta, you ARE dead.

Movie 13: I love Tapion and the whole Hildegarn storage concept. Gohan's pretty neat in it. The Golden Dragon Punch (that right?) is a nice looking move. Overall story is pretty decent.

My favorite movie... I think is #9, the Bojack one. Isn't that out on dvd now? o.o But #12 is really funny and Janemba is cool. :D #13 is cool, and I think #10 is cute. #8 and #7 are good. Like Jersey said, I think #11 is the only one I don't really like, but there are some funny parts in it. ^__^
Yes... I am... but you don't know that...
