The Senzu beans...
If I remember correctly, the senzu beans were only supposed to give you ten days worth of food, which would "heal" possibly Goku, Gohan, Goten, and the others that eat like him (and gain strength by doing so, not get actually get healed).
How did we go to healing wounds? Like a giant fist-inflicted hole in the chest?

Well, they were first used for healing at the end of the 23rd Budokai. There wasn't much of an explaination for it, at least not in the norwegian manga release, it was just "What, the Senzu beans heal wounds too?" "Yeah, didn't you know?" So, they always had that effect, it's just that no-one noticed it before that.

I think you'll find that in the manga Karin does give Goku a Senzu. I think...What confused me is in Dragonball after Goku fought Piccolo Daimou, Karin-sama didn't give him a Senzu to heal his wounds. He gave his herbs instead, and it took one day to heal Goku's wounds.

Unless it says different in the Japanese manga, Karin definitely says "medicinal herbs" in the Viz translation.
Goku: "Woo-hoo--!! Yay--!! I'm healed, I'm healed!! My injuries really did heal in just one day!!"
Karin-sama: "It is impressive, isn't it? I cultivated those medicinal herbs myself."
I suppose Karin-sama could have been talking about a Senzu there, but I don't see a reason he wouldn't have just said Senzu.

Who knows. I think it was senzu in the anime, but I haven't watched those eps in years.Tyro wrote:Unless it says different in the Japanese manga, Karin definitely says "medicinal herbs" in the Viz translation.

It says "yakusou" in the Japanese version, which indeed means "medicinal herb".

I just figured it was Karin's way of explaining the other way a senzu could be used. Right after he tosses it to Goku, Goku's all shocked because it's just a senzu.
