Differences between American & Japanese DBZ games

Post by Guest » Sun Jul 08, 2007 1:54 pm

I'd like to know which are the differences between american and japanese versions of DBZ 3/ Budokai 3, TB/ Sparking and TB 2/ Sparking Neo (including Wii version). I'm talking about differences between characters, extra menus and / or new attacks.
Also, I'd like to know how many "special" versions were released for each game (Director's Cut, Platinum and stuff).

Thanks and sorry my poor english. ;-)

Wikipedia's article explains pretty much all of the differences between the versions of Budokai 3.

I don't think Sparking! had any differences between the Japanese version and the one we got in North America.

In Japan the Wii version of Sparking! NEO had a few more characters than what most of the world got. Again, Wikipedia's article is quite helpful.

Actually, the Sparking! games have different music in the American version than the Japanese version, which uses the show's music. BT1 uses recycled Budokai music and BT2 uses some newly composed music which, IMO is crap.

If you manage to get the Budokai 3 Greatest Hits, Collectors' Edition, or Platinum release; then you get everything the Japanese version does, small exceptions being the Japanese vocal opening and a few extra Baba Crystal Ball "movies". As for Budokai Tenkaichi/Sparking!, you get everything the Japanese version has, with only the considerable exception of the entire Japanese music score being replaced by recycled Budokai music. Budokai Tenkaichi 2/Sparking! NEO, exact same boat as the first one, except no audio glitches and an original music score replacement.

North America = not most of the world. And you guys were the only ones not to get those characters.

Really? I thought they were Japan exclusives.

Edit: Then again, I never really know what PAL meant...

That is where Wikipedia comes in handy. =D Although personally I prefer to use the "European" version term rather than PAL to avoid such confusion... but then you have to keep in mind that Australia & New Zealand get the European versions of games too. XD

Not always. While Australian games play on all PAL consoles, they have their exclusives and unreleased games Europe doesn't have (The e-reader was released in Australia, but not Europe. Same with Animal Crossing, except Nintendo changed their mind and released it in Europe after all a year or so after (though a large portion of interested people had already imported it, of course))
