Swap Magic

Post by Supa Saiya-Jin Tullece » Tue Jul 10, 2007 9:58 am

Okay, as not to let this topic go to waste, I'll go ahead and change the topic.

Swap Magic is a thing you can buy to change the Region on your PS2 and to make backups of your discs. (However, using this to pirate games is obviously illegal by any stretch of the imagination, and can result in a hefty fine).

You can use these backups to edit games, and the long list includes two favorites:

Budokai 3 and Tenkaichi (1, the original Sparking!)

This can yeild powerful results, as seen in PVG's Budokai AF mod (And I know you're around here somewhere PVG, I've seen you here before).

To watch what this can do, look at these videos:

Preview 1

Preview 2

Once again, Budokai AF isn't my mod, it's PVG's.

Any thoughts on this? I probably won't be participating in any of these mods because of the tight legalities involved.

Thank-you a million, Mayuri! I changed the topic as not to put the entire thing to waste (and to hopefully make myself look like less of an idiot).

hey, does this mean I could use SwapMagic to put the original BGM in place of the recycled Budokai music?

If you find the correct offsets in hex for it, I don't see why not. You could change virtually anything you wanted.

Is there anyone who has done this that can provide a guide?

Not that I've found yet. PVG keeps saying that he'll put one up soon, but never does. I'm sure it's on google somewhere.

Just one question here...

is it possible to use swap magic to run the japanese games without having to use any magic keys or whatever they are called?

I'm talking about original game, not backup or illegal copy or whatever.

I just want to run some japanese games

Wow. PGV is never gonna give up on his dreams of making Dragonball AF.

He's been on this for YEARS.

Awesome stuff, though.

Wow, awesome mod, I wonder when Dragon Ball AF Budokai will be completed. And Swap Magic destroys the regional barrier, allowing you to play any game from any region.

Yeah but I have the slim version of the ps2 and heard you need those "magic keys" to use backups an such.... but I was wondering If I can play import games without those (I'm not interested in pirate games ¬¬ so I don't want to use those "magic keys")
