The first time I saw this episode (#205: When Goku announces he's going to be at the Tenkaichi Budokai and Gohan on his way home gets wrapped up in a movie being shot) I've always wondered why they used the Red & Black character models for the Director and his assistant. Maybe they're their younger brothers

I dunno, it just seemed like odd characters to draw for a filler episode.

Clip's not English but it's the first one I found, too tired to do too much more searching, whole point is to just see them anyway, can see them both at the 5:15 mark.
Just wondering if anyone else thought it odd to use them for the filler.

Oh crap I never saw this episode, the farmer from episode 1 is in there too with a make over. Do they say they are Red and Black? Sometimes the filler company's just take characters from the "extra" database and scatters them around. By the way the Spanish dub looks absolutely great, how many years of learning Spanish do you think it will take to understand it?

They're the long-lost twin brothers Red and Black never knew of, let's leave it at that?
Short answer, Toei felt like reusing main character designs from a saga long days past in the days where there were no reruns. They figured what the hell since this was filler.

The video is of Goku contacting his friends from El Otro Mundo and letting them know that he is going to be at the tournament even though being dead. LOL that little Trunks doesn't even know who Goku is or what's going on. I love how Vegeta tells him it's Goku in a long winded way. I might even give you some pointers and/or answer any questions you might have. Master Roshi might have asked for a hot babe for his disciple's training. That is because he is a dirty old man with no life ha ha ha. I am different...

Well, we could say that Piccolo Daimao was controling things in the RRA as DragonballDaisuki's idea, so that Daimao was responsible for Red getting shot and for Black getting killed somehow and they were therefore revived. But even if Daimao was in control, their revival seems nlikely, so Toei just neglected that anyone would recognize them. ^^

I'm pretty sure they're just re-used character designs. No human being can survive a shot to the head or being inside a robot that explodes.

They also appear during a baseball game in the Saiyan Arc. Well Red is a lot taller. I don't think they have the same voices but they keep the same face.
Goku: "Look Vegeta! People popcorn!"
Vegeta: "What is he on?"

Animation recycling most likely. See this a lot during the 80's and before. I found a bunch of recycled animation (recolored dogs from one of the main characters for example) from Ginga Nagareboshi Gin. Older Disney movies are popular for it, too.

Oh, wow... I enjoyed this episode more for the fact that Gohan got involved in a freaking movie shoot than the fact that there were Red and Black lookalikes included in the episode. (Though the fact that they're the ones putting together the film makes it funnier.) Aaah, Gohan has no friggin' idea about how to properly interact with a movie crew. I saw him make so many mistakes there... haha... oh, it's painful... x'DDD
Art, etc. links taken down for now. Will be updated at some point. I dunno.

Dr. Briefs is in there too, without his glasses, cigarette, and cat. He's working the camera! So many cameos!

Wow, Red, Black AND Farmer with shotgun.
Oh, and the thugs in the car chase scene are the same ones who tried to take Goku's money in West City (and were Husky's subordinates in the subsequent filler).

Guess that gave Saban 10 years ago the justification to have him say it smarted after Raditz shot him with his own bullet.

I don't think it's meant to make sense. It's just a filler-cameo appearance, which always makes me smile when I see the episode, (especially since the episode is a humorous episode anyway.) Don't you enjoy seeing old characters out of nowhere?

What's scarier than a DBZ H-game?

Easy. Their power is maximum. They work in disguise.
If you think that Freeza or Cell were strong, think of the villains that they kill when Goku and his friends are not around.
They call themselves "Musclethrust".

I think Toei was just trying to add nostalgia to that episode. Making people want to say, "Hey thats Red and Black! Cool!" The guy with the shotgun is in a lot of episodes. He's in the Androids Saga, stuck in a tree after Dr. Gero puts him up there. He's also in the Chibi Buu Saga when Trunks and Goten are trying to convince people to raise their hands.
And I'm pretty sure Akira Toriyama was first in line to be transported to the moon in the Baby Saga of GT.
