Commentary and outtakes

Post by Super Sonic » Sun Sep 02, 2007 12:35 pm

Now I admit that I normally don't care much about extras with anime dvds. But after watching the last eps of Yu Yu Hakusho, I have to ask, did any of you guys ever wish that Funimation would've put commentary tracks or outtakes on the DBZ dvds? I think if they were hilarious on the YYH one, with in-jokes and whatnot, they probably would've been so on aDBZ one.

I'd really like some DBZ commentaries. The ones I've heard on other Funi DVDs have been cool. They're a fairly simple extra that make me much more inclined to buy.

I don't know about other people, but I for one had a great time with the only commentary track ever released for a FUNimation DBZ product-- the sit-down with Chuck Huber and that other guy on the Ultimate Uncut Special Edition of Dead Zone. We didn't exactly get any of the "big" names that people would be looking for (Schemmel, Sabat, etc.), but we did get Garlic Jr's. VA (Huber) and the two of them were hilarious with poking fun at the movie as they watched.

So definitely, I'd love additional commentaries. Practically impossible that we're going to get any at this point, but still . . .

The NUMBER ONE Goten fan, and a fucking epic one at that.

Now that I think of it, I think it would be hilarious if they ever did an in-joke outtake calling Tien the child of a liasion between Frieza and Baba.

Remember how when Kami grabbed Garlic Jr. and tried to self-destruct, one of them said, "I love you man!". They were hilarious. And I was surprised that that was Chuck's actual voice.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

300 consecutive commentaries sounds like they'd get old fast.

I meant more on the key episodes or the final ones like YYH did.
