Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Ok, a silly question really. You know the bit when Vegeta gives Krillin and Gohan some armour to wear on Namek?
Perhaps you remember that he couldn't find a size in the new edition to fit himself so he had to wear an older version. He could, however, find a pair of new uniforms in the correct size for Gohan and Krillin who are even smaller than him.
Well then let me mention the bit when Vegeta explains why the armour doesn't break off when Saiyajins turn into Oozaru; the reason is apparently that the armour is very stretchy indeed so even when they grow very large it doesn't matter and the armour grows with them... Do you see where I'm going with this?
So my question is: Was that scene, or at least the exact dialogue from it, actually from the manga or is it a filler scene and/or changed dialogue?

That's pretty much the dialog from the manga.

Perhaps the armor in question wasn't the "Stretch-for-Saiyans" type.

Well, Kuririn and Gohan did stretch it a little, didn't they.
Anyway, I guess a smaller size for Vegeta would just be uncomfortably tight.

But considering these outfits can go from the size of Vegeta to the size of an Oozaru without straining, I can't imagine that going from the size of Gohan to the size of Vegeta would cause them to be that tight.

Well, if it had to stretch to fit him at all, it'd have to be tight. And it wouldn't have to be very tight to not be worth it when there's an older one in his size.

I can see what you're saying but I still say that if, for example, I had a rubber band about 8 inches long that could still somehow stretch around my house fairly easily, it wouldn't be very tight at all if I put it around my chest.
I think it really was a huge oversight on Toriyama's part but certain things can be makeshift reasons. Also. the stretching costume thing still doesn't explain how the shoulder pads actually scale up too. They're never actually in contact with the body and stick out but they grow with the rest of the costume even though nothing's actually stretching them. I don't mean to be a nitpicking ass, but it's just pretty striking that he's (a) tried to explain a silly thing like the armour staying on Oozaru with an equally silly story but then (b) contradicted it in the same episode (or a nearby one) with an unnecessary scene of Vegeta not being able to find armour in his size.

I believe some of the suits are specially made according to some races. I think that the suits Gohan and Krillin wore were custom made for the people of Lilliput (who I would assume are a small race). Apparrently Gohan and Krillin could be considered giant compared to them according to Vegita's dialouge.
"Luckily there were some
miniature ones..made for the people of the planet Lilliput." and "Force it on! They'll stretch enough if you pull on them." Now if someone like Gohan and Krillin had to force them on, I doubt Vegeta would be able to wear it.
This would make sense when he says, he "could not find a standard set that fit me." This would imply that the suit would have to at least fit you in your normal state for it to stretch during a transformation, or the Saiya-jin have special ones made to accomodate their ape forms.
Another thing is when Freeza's tranforms. He blows off his battle jacket. Now while he most likely did it because he did not need it, one could theorize that his model was not able to stretch enough to fit his other forms.
What it really boils down to is while they imply that one size fits all, in actuallity one size fits most.
