Japanese speakers: Translations of the in-battle dialogue?

Post by Kak » Tue Nov 20, 2007 8:44 pm

For Budokai Tenkaichi 3, and by "in-battle" I meant non-storyline dialogue, the stuff you hear before and after a fight in duel mode or tournament mode and the others.

I was wondering if one of the guys here who speaks Japanese and has this game could post translations of some of what they're saying before and after battles, since it's not subtitled. A lot of it is easy to figure out, but a lot of it isn't. I'm not asking for someone to go through every combination of battles and translate everything, but rather just as they're playing the game, probably only if they have their computer next to where they play, they could type out some translations as they hear them as they come up during their normal playing.

And I know all of you might think I should just turn the game onto English if I want to know so bad, but that won't really work since the English dialogue doesn't always match up with the Japanese dialogue.

If someone could do some of this I would greatly appreciate it. I don't really expect for anyone to do this for me, but I just thought there was (hopefully) no harm in asking. :)

EDIT: I just realised you meant before/after Duels, not in story modes, so ingore this XD

Actually, from what I've seen, the English subtitles and the Japanese ones are really close to the same. Besides maybe some localization(?) things.

But I did notice one thing. When Pan is talking about the final battle with Omega. In the English, she says "Way to go Grandpa" sarcastically for letting the fusion wear off,but in Japanese, she calls him an idiot.

Even in the storymode the dialogue is often different, but usually nothing major. I know it's lame of me to make a claim like that without proof, but I was noticing differences in every line (I can't "speak" Japanese, but I know around 250 words and phrases from looking stuff up and watching through DB, DBZ, and DBGT so much), since the subtitles are for the English dialogue (which like I said is usually slightly different) and not really a translation of what they're saying in Japanese. Like I said I can't really think of any examples right this second though, I haven't been playing the story mode that much recently. Actually I do remember one, but it's extremely minor, where imperfect Cell is talking about gathering data from his spy robot (it's obvious since even though he's speaking Japanese he says "spy robot" in English) but the subtitles don't mention the spy robot.

And yes I'm talking about duels, sorry, I'll try to edit my initial post to make it more clear. :)

I can´t say about duel mode because it is not subtitled,
but if you turn spanish sub then you will get a pretty accurate translation.
And I am sure of it.
