I've never seen a box set like that before. I kinda thought it would be the Blue Set, but it's not. I have no clue if this is bootlegged or not...
Next quest: Start collecting Dragon Ball Super Blu-Rays whenever season sets get released. Also the Super Manga!

Well I'm taking a wild stab here but I'd say it's legitamate merchandise because of the somewhat reputable website your buying it from. As for quality I'm not sure - we'd need one of the forums resident video quality junkies on the scene

Re: Bootleg, or not?
Really? I'm sure if there were English subs in there that would lean to bootleg, but surely there must be legitimate DVDs sold in China. They can't *all* be bootlegs. And wouldn't a DVD for a Chinese person in China be in Chinese? (In this case, Cantonese.)backthen wrote:Olivier Hague wrote:coola wrote:Could some one tell me if those DVDs are bootlegs?Language Japanese, Cantonese

Re: Bootleg, or not?
Uhhh, no. They do make official, legitimate DVDs in Hong Kong. Bootlegs tend to have English subs. On top of that, this is Region 3 (China), not Region 0, the other big indicator of bootlegging.backthen wrote:AKAOlivier Hague wrote:coola wrote:Could some one tell me if those DVDs are bootlegs?Language Japanese, Cantonese

And PlayAsia is a legitimate store.

Well, it DOES have R3 coding on it - that's what confused me.

No bootlegs, official Hong Kong Dragon Ball releases. I have them standing here in my room
And err.. the videoquality is quite bad.

Oh sorry. They're the Chinese box-sets eh? Well, then that makes more sense.Mayuri Furiza Kurotsuchi wrote:They AREN'T bootlegsthe original ero-sennin wrote:Well, I would have never expected to find a bootleg on PlayAsia. They are a pretty well know and reputable site. Oh well, that is very interesting.

I accidentally picked up all of DragonBall and Dragonall Z in a similar format. They are some Hong Kong sets and they are awful. The video is not very good, tons of macro-blocking and pixelation. And the subs are just as terrible. It is full of lousy translations, engrish, and grammatical errors. With such lines as: "That's of course!" coming up all over the place. I don't want anyone to have to purchase bootlegs. I got them in a time when I did not know that there were releases that were not legitimate. I may have gotten them for very cheap. But I have regretted it ever since, and to this day, I still cannot watch the damn discs. So yeah.... Bootlegs: Don't buy em.

...and who can forget that in those subs, Vegeta's name is "Dende"?
Oh, and remember how it's impossible to get to the last episode of a disc from the chapter menu?
Might as well just buy the season sets with that kind of quality.

Exactly. Maybe we have the same sets.Kendamu wrote:"That's Master Goten's house!" -- Goku talking to Gohan, pointing at the Kame HouseBomber Greek wrote:It seems Hong-Kong and Malaysian box sets are always bootlegs. The Hong-Kong Dragon Ball Z one I have (which I regret buying) has horrible subs.

In one episode, Piccolo was called "Beka". God knows where that one came from.
