While searching through EBay for some Dragonball releated stuff, I came across these. Thought you all would like to see, or possibly buy. Would make a great Christmas present, too.

I hope you know that just because the bid has started at $600 doesn't mean that it will sell for $600. Cell Games Sagas on Ebay usually start really low, I'm talking $10. But in the end, they end up going away for over $200 usually. I'm sure it'll be probably even more than the original $900. Some jackass is going to go on there and bid like $100 more than the person before him, and that's how it all starts. Plus, you always have that guy that comes on and every 5 minutes bids $3 more than himself. He's going to end up making a lot of money on these two sets.

Note: limited edition items (as in, real limited editions, not "limited edition" DVD's from 2003 that still have 70 copies on the shelf at the local Best Buy today) tend to appreciate in value, not depreciate.Smooth Criminal wrote:Yeah, I so want these!!

No.
Didn't some dude sell ALL of his DragonBox sets for like 800 or 900 sometimes last year? This is a total ripoff.
Since these, at the original preorder from Amazon.co.jp price, were about $1600...this is a steal. Just because FUNimation's discs from that era can be found for $.50, that doesn't mean these are a ripoff

NOT a ripoff... yet.
Bidding wars could drive the prices up a significant amount. Especially on the last day when the big spenders start sniping.
Noone with half a brain would bid right now.
If I had the funds I would go for this. I just dont currently live a lifestyle that justifies dropping 1-2 grand on a cartoon series. I wont even buy thundercats cuz I think 60 bucks for a half a season is retarded (with anime getting affordable thin packs all over the place now).

To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

You would think that everyone would be smart and just wait until the last second to bid...but that's not always right. By the last day, it'll probably increase in at least a couple hundred bucks.
I personally am not suffering without the Dragon Box, because I have all of the FUNimation DVDs, which include the Japanese language track AND the English subtitles, along with the FUNimation version, which I like.
I mean the picture quality is different, but turn the sharpness down, and increase the tint and it's the same thing...though I don't like the tint thing.
The Dragon Box set is a great must-have for anyone who wants to collect the original series in it's original...or remastered form. The remastered part is OF COURSE better than the FUNimation treatment. If only they had enough side footage to make it unnecessary to cut the vertical picture and still have it widescreen, it would be Godly.
See, FUNimation's DBZ has a bunch of box-sets and DVDs. At one time I calculated that the entire DBZ series would be worth a couple hundred over $1,000 to own. In that respect, I think that the Dragon Box is more expensive. HOWEVER, they do not make those FUNimation DVDs anymore, and if you want the uncut series, this is the best way to go.
I mean I basically have the same thing, same audio, same picture (except like a tiny part at the bottom or left side or something), which I can adjust to look the same. So I personally would have no use for the Dragon Box. But that's speaking as me, there are tons of people that would want it, and to them, I say that $600 is a great price. But again, this guy knew what he was doing. He didn't start the bid at $300. With his starting bid at $600, it's almost a guarantee that he'll get at least $900, if not more.
If you want the subtitles, maybe you can continue...or start, getting the FUNimation "Remastered" one along WITH the Dragon Box. It's pretty inexpensive. I mean $30 a piece. Not bad. I'd say that the whole series released on this FUNimation set would cost significantly under $600. Plus you're not spending it all at once, so it's no problem. If it doesn't bother you that it doesn't have subtitles, then yeah, you don't even need the damn "Remastered" one.
I'm unfamiliar with the Dragon Boxes. Do they have any cool Extras or anything. I mean I like the FUNimation DVD menus (sometimes), but the Extras are pretty damn horrible. Nothing more than trailers. Once in a while, on like 2 DVDs they have the Top 10 Fighting/Unexpected Moments or something like that. And the Ultimate Uncut has a pretty cool Trivia, which is different on each DVD. Still though, it would be nice to kind of see the behind-the-scenes stuff. What's Dragon Box have? Does it have nice popping menus like the FUNimation ones, or is it more like the "Remastered" ones? Where they have absolutely nothing, the menu is an eye-sore, and the Extras are pretty bad. Trailers and the "Remastering" process. lol Come on. We all know how that one went. "We put it in the machine, it did it and we came back when it was done. Then we put it on DVDs and spaced out the releases like half a year apart so that we wouldn't have to work too hard at advertising."

The Dragon Boxes have an entire disc dedicated to extras.

I doubt it, since most Behind the Scenes stuff is shot for DVD, and DBZ was created, well before dvd existed.TheGreatness25 wrote:... The Bardock Special is great. But the rest just seems like either commercials or foreign clips. Does it have any behind-the-scenes stuff? The Extras are a lot better than the FUNimation Extras, but...anything...you know, really juicy that's worth it? Also, how are the disk menus?
