Okay, I can walk you through how to do it well.

} Save the image to your desktop.

} Go to http://www.imageshack.us

} Make sure the box next to the "resize image" option is checked and the drop down box next to it has "100 x 75" selected.

} Click on the "choose" box and find your image on the desktop. Then click "host it" to upload it. Find a link to show your image and click it to see the smaller version.

} Now, the maximum size of an avatar here is 80 x 80, so you'll need to open up your MS Paint program. Find the "attributes" option in one of the drop down menus and set the height and width to something small like 5 pixels each.

} Now just right click on the smaller image on the imageshack page and click "copy image".

} Go back to your open MS Paint and click "edit" and then "paste" to copy your image to the paint window. The dimensions should stretch to match your image.

} Now find the "attributes" option in one of the Paint's drop down menus on the top again.

} Change the height to 80. If the width is more than 80, you'll need to change that too. If not, leave it at it's smaller value.

} This will cut off some of the bottom of the picture. If you think too much was cut off, simply click "edit" and "undo" to reverse the cropping. Then just click "edit" and "select all". This will let you drag the image up with your cursor. Be careful not to drag it to the right or left leaving a white line on one side. Once the image is moved up a little, repeat step 9. You can keep undoing and adjusting until the image is cropped the way you want.

} Now click "file" and "save as". If you want to keep a higher quality version of this avatar, save it as a PNG first, but then "save as" again as a JPEG, since the file size restriction here is only 8kb.

} Now go to http://www.imageshack.us again. This time, make sure the "resize image" box is checked, but this time you're going to "optimize without resizing" from the drop down menu.

} Upload the JPEG version of the avatar by finding it with "choose" and then clicking "host it".

} Now one of the many pieces of code that comes up is a "direct link". Copy that one.

} Finally, come back to the forums, here, and click on "profile" at the top of the page. Scroll down to the bottom where it says "link to offsite avatar" and paste the direct link to your avatar into the box, and click submit.

If all went well, you should have a sweet new avatar. If you have any problems along the way, just PM me. If you post a question here, I may not see it right away.
