Dragon Ball Z: Shin Butoden
I dusted off my Sega Saturn a couple weeks ago, and I've been looking for some imports. This game caught my eye on ebay. I was wondering if anyone here has actually played it. It seemed like a good topic to start, so, yeah. I'll post any info I find here as well for other people that may be interested in it.

I have it, it is one of the BEST DragonBall Z games ever made. Its basically a lot like the original Super Butoden games on SNES, but it has every character from Ultimate Battle 22 (Including the hidden characters) and it also has an awesome mode where you as Mr.Satan and you bet on CPU controlled fights and you shoot your gun, throw banna's into the fight, etc, to throw the fight into your favor
Its all to pay back Android 18 from the money Satan owes her ^^
But yeh, the game ROCKS Ulitmate Battle 22, the fighting engine is more fluid, controls great, and it has AWESOME sound, I cannot stress enough how good this game sounds, especially when you pull off a super attack.
Its become quite a difficult game to get ahold of too.

Well, I've never played legends on Saturn, but I can give some insight.
The Saturn is a 2D powerhouse. All of the Street Fighter games released on the system were arcade perfect. Granted, the latter ones (Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter; Xmen vs. Street Fighter; and the like) used a Ram Cart enhancement. Street Fighter Alpha 2, among others, did not however. So, I'd say that you're probably right.
Also, I played the PSX version of legends. Boy does it suck. ~_~

That's because the Saturn was designed to be a 2d bad-ass. The 3d was badly implemented, mainly because Sega paniced over Sony's stats for the Playstation and threw in another processor to try and beef things up. Which of course results in a machine that was a nightmare to program.
Romana: "I don't think we should interfere."
Doctor: "Interfere? Of course we should interfere! Always do what you're best at, that's what I say."
-Doctor Who: Nightmare Of Eden

Depends really, the Saturn version has more background interactivity, namely more boulders and even TREE'S, and when you knock an oppenent away they go flying back a lot further than they do in the PSX version. Also several chracters have different super attacks, Vegeta has his "Final Shine" or whatever, basically the move he used on Nappa, Krillin has the Kienzan, and Trunks has a move where he attacks with sword.Sun_Wukong wrote:On a related note, I've also heard that the Saturn version of Legends is far better than the PSX version. Is this true?
The graphics in the Saturn version arent any different the PSX version, however the auras and ki-beams all look pretty crappy because in the PSX version they were 3D shells, but the Saturn cant render them properly. Also, the Saturn versions controls are a bit tigher the the CPU is harder. But overall, its a lot faster than the PSX version, you can have 6 guys on screen fighting at once and there is zero slowdown.
