Burst Limit, recycled Budokai?
From all the trailers I've seen this looks the same as Budokai; even the attacks characters have used were almost exactly the same. Isn't it kind of a bad way to start off on the next-gen consoles by just visually improving a game from four years ago and hyping it as something new?

I personally am a fan of the Tenkaichi style of fighting, but I like the Budokai style too. I guess i just wanted to see something different from what they've been giving us the last 6 or 7 yearsKid Trunks wrote:I pretty much agree. There would probably be even more annoyance among fans if so many of them weren't so glad to just be getting away from the Tenkaichi style of fighting.

The best way for them to do that, I believe, is to work on the "interactivity" of the stages and environments.SSJ2bardock wrote:I'd like to get something that actually looks like the anime, really like the anime. Not just the characters, but the levels, the attacks, the aura effects. I've always wanted to feel like I was actually playing the show and nothing to date has given me that.
In the show, when someone really strong powers up, the ground and cliffs and such crumble, and giant waves kick up in the water, energy attacks leave giant craters in the ground, and so on, and so on...
Just adding this element alone would, in my opinion, take these games to a WHOLE new level of "DBZ-ness."

I completely agree with you on that! These are the sort of things that are left out in Tenkaichi 3 that just leave you wanting more. Great idea, I don't know why i didn't think of that before.SSj Kaboom wrote:The best way for them to do that, I believe, is to work on the "interactivity" of the stages and environments.SSJ2bardock wrote:I'd like to get something that actually looks like the anime, really like the anime. Hey, be quiet you! Well it looks like it is using the Shin Budokai engine which to be honest is the best DBZ fighting engine to date, but we don't know any new advanced moves yet so give it a chance.
I'm not much of a fan of the Tenkaichi series, it feels extremely shallow and I just hate how horrible the character models look, gives it a really empty feeling.

I think Tenkaichi gives you more of the feeling that your playing the show. Which is why is wish it looked more like the anime instead of cel shaded 3D-ish because that would just make it that much more awesome.Vegeta Jr wrote:Well it looks like it is using the Shin Budokai engine which to be honest is the best DBZ fighting engine to date, but we don't know any new advanced moves yet so give it a chance.

I find the Budokai series to be more faithful to Dragonball Z at least to the original Dragonball anyway where the melee is much more important than flashy super moves.SSJ2bardock wrote:I think Tenkaichi gives you more of the feeling that your playing the show. Just because you can fly around like that doesn't mean it is any closer to the anime, when has anyone flew away from a fight like that?

Good point, although I can think of instances where people hide/run, and I guess it all just depends on what you want: flashy beam attacks or flurries of kicks and punches.Vegeta Jr wrote:I find the Budokai series to be more faithful to Dragonball Z at least to the original Dragonball anyway where the melee is much more important than flashy super moves.SSJ2bardock wrote:I think Tenkaichi gives you more of the feeling that your playing the show. While I can understand that you like the Budokai style better, its definitely the Tenkaichi series that simulates the anime most accurately. Goku vs. Majin Vegeta, Goku vs. Freeza, Goku vs. Kid Buu, those fights were all over the place, and Tenkaichi simulates those fights better than the Budokai's. And those were just a few fights, theres many more like that.Vegeta Jr wrote:I find the Budokai series to be more faithful to Dragonball Z at least to the original Dragonball anyway where the melee is much more important than flashy super moves.

While the characters have expressions on their face as if they are going to the bookstore but they got really bad news just before they checked out. That's the biggest issue I have with Tenkaichi games. The character models are extremely stiff and not very detailed. Not to mention it looks like they got ran over by a buffer. They look Waaaay tooo shiny for my taste.Rocketman wrote:What flurries? Budokai is fast-paced, no doubt, but Tenkaichi is faster (60+ hits in a couple seconds).SSJ2bardock wrote:Good point, although I can think of instances where people hide/run, and I guess it all just depends on what you want: flashy beam attacks or flurries of kicks and punches.
Edit: Scratch that, actually my biggest issue is the awful gameplay.

Being a big Street Fighter fan I enjoy Budokai more than Sparking. Sparking has great energy blast attacks but the melee attacks can be too scenematic. I fell that Super DBZ was a good mix of the two and I wish that a sequel and series could be made of it.
I wonder if they're gonna change the mechanics of the cutscene-ish attacks. Are we still gonna have to press the same buttons to defend against the one type?
