General Warnings (Grammar, Style, Relevance, etc.)

Post by VegettoEX » Wed Apr 23, 2008 12:00 pm

Hi, everyone!~

We've had a massive influx of new members, lately. I actually haven't had the time to go through web logs and see where everyone's coming from, so definitely chime in with how you found the site (long time visitor, recent visitor, podcast listener, etc.).

That being said, there is no effective way for me to message only active participants on the forum other than making a post like this, and then hoping people actually read it. I will do my best to keep it concise!

You are expected to type properly.
It's fascinating to me how the native-English-speakers are the ones who seem to be the ones who put the smallest amount of effort as possible into presenting themselves online to an English-speaking board. There is no excuse for not capitalizing, punctuating, and writing in an easy-to-read style (paragraphs are helpful!). If you are finding your posts being corrected in bold-red, please take the hint that you need to step up your game. Let's prove the internet wrong! There are English-speaking DBZ fans who can carry on a coherent conversation! :D

You will be respectful of other people.
Daizenshuu EX has been around for over ten years, now. We have a really nice following, and a great group of people. Most of these people have shown how unbelievably intelligent and well-versed they are. If you are new, please remember that you may be talking with people who have a great deal more experience and knowledge than you do (I'm not even talking about myself, here!). If you think you have something new to add or correct, by all means do so... but remember that others are probably saying what they're saying for a reason.

You will post with relevance.
One of the reasons people have told me they like this forum so much is because there's no nonsense to wade through. If there's a response to a thread, it probably has something of substance. If all you have to say is "I agree!", you really don't have anything to add. Furthermore, please do not respond with "cute" images; this, again, adds absolutely nothing to the conversations, and only serves as an annoying and childish distraction.

You have no doubt read the full forum rules prior to registering, but these seem to be the big points that need to be reiterated. Even if you are an old-timer by comparison, they may warrant a review.

Thanks, everyone!
