What do you wish was explained more in the series?

Myself, I wish they showed more of the charcters' everyday activities when there wasn't any threats going on.

Y'know how they added in a Trunks special in the manga?
It would be cool if they did that with other short stories, kind of small little one shots like "How Mr.Satan became famous" or "The story of Piccolo."
So we could get small shots of info about every character here and there.

Mostly character histories, take Yamcha for example, we never got any information on his past, which always disappointed me a little, he was just a bandit dude.

I also think Freeza and King Cold were crying out for a backstory, something detailing their rise to power, It always annoyed me that King Cold made comments about their "clan" but we never got anything more than that.

I agree. a lot of time was wasted in those big gaps between saga's. 3 years before the androids, 7 years after Cell, 10 years after Buu. Could have made for some good filler in those gaps. Thats why I like the Garlic Junior saga, because of the regular everyday life episodes Krillin gets (the engagement and all that).

Also, a little more affection from Goku to Chi Chi wouldn't have gone amiss either.

DBZ Elswehere fixes that. 'S not bad for a doujinshi, and one of our members does it.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I've read it and I love it :)

I was speaking more in terms of his history before he met up with Goku and Bulma.

Pretty much all of the DB characters are lacking in back story or have very little. And the ones that get back story get a lot (The Saiyans and the Namekians?) Like right here we don't know too much of anything from the major human characters.

All we know of Kuririn is that he's a monk from a school that comes to learn Kamesen-Ryu and then just sticks around. So no parents, no homeland, nothing. Just some short voluntarily bald guy.

Yamucha is some bandit that robs people. We never find out how he got that way or why and we never find out he gets his scars as they just 'appear' at the 23rd Budokai.

Tenshinhan. It was said that he used to be an assassin but what made him become assassin in the first placer? And how did he meet Chaozu, his best friend?

Yajirobe is just some guy that lives in the forest without parents or a life until he lived with Karin.

Muten Roshi got some back story but we never really know too much about his climb to being known as the best martial artists other than that he's amazing in DB at the 21st and 22nd Budokai and because people said so. I would have really liked to know why he was considered so great to be honest. I know that him as an Old Man wasn't as good as him in his prime.

But yeah, and Freeza and his family needed some sort of explanation too. Same with Bardock's crew mates. I mean I really have never felt for Toma's or Bardock's crew's death because I just don't know the guy.
Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

Gohan and Videl. Nuff said.

(The obvious-ity levels are off the charts. Look at these charts!)

You know what I wish for... :P

IMO the quantity of tidbits into the backstory and whatnot, of the Saiyans,,, is much too little..
Just Saiyan...

I always thought it would be cool to learn how capsule corp started.

Another thing that I would've liked to see is Goten's birth, and Goten and Trunks meeting for the first time.

All I wanted was backstory for the minor characters.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

All of those are great things we needed but I always wanted more information on Goku's family.

More specifically, I wanted to know a LOT more about Grandpa Gohan, he's an old guy who found Goku, raised him, got flattened and gives some advice after Urana Baba's tournament thing, he then just vanishes. All the times Goku died, it wounded my heart he NEVER went to go see Grandpa Gohan, who clearly was able to keep his body from what we did see of him (Baba was able to get his ghostly form to visit earth, something she later did with Goku in the early Buu era).

Who was Gohan, and why the frickin' frack didn't he get seen again during anything after his ghostly visage appearance? It's not like he was someone you can forget - Goku's firstborn son was NAMED after him.

I also wanted to know a little more about Raditz, specifically during the time frame of the Bardock special, because we don't know anything about him besides the fact he's Goku's brother because he says so, he is one of the surviving Saiyans from Freeza's holocaust, and he's a jackass.

Bardock, though, I think got enough coverage - he was a typical Saiyan warrior who got by accident divination powers, and tried to stop the end of his planet he forsaw, but failed (and yet saw Freeza's end by his sons hand before he, himself died). The only thing there missing is well, it would have been nice to know who the heck Goku's moher was.

I wouldn't mind that either, so long as it would be nothing like the Gohan/Videl stuff we did get i.e. Videl being constantly grumpy with Gohan for no reason. Watching that just makes me irritated. To be fair, she seemed to mellow a bit after she cut her hair, though that was was around the time she faded into the ground.

Dude that really doesn't say much about them since all of the Saiyans regardless of who they were, were like that.

I would have liked to know specifically how Bardock and his crew were so tight-knit. And things like how they meet up. I mean it's shown in the TV special that even though they were crew mates that they were friends as well but not even a little flashback of their past or anything recorded in Dragonball says this. It's just really disappointing.

That was my point. They really weren't any different than any other Saiyans, except that they're Bardock's team.

All soldier-groups get tight-nit. It's really easy to get dead in battle if nobody's got your back.

Laser, Goku does see him again in the filler Wedding arc, the last two episodes of original DragonBall. Chichi even meets him.

Casual downtime, love of god that would have been wonderful.

More information on the characters who're handicapped by the misfortune of not being sayiajin- where they came from, where they went, a little on their families maybe. I would have loved to see Ranchi again, especially. She's my favorite female in all of DB. Krillian's the only non-Saiyan who gets to have a family/happiness, and it kills me.

And of course, I'll take absolutely anything I can get on the culture of Old Nameksei, before the storms. Or anything else dealing with Nameksei and her people.

Yeah but Bardock and his crew were supposed to be main characters. Just because they were no different from the other Saiyans dosn't mean that they didn't deserve any sort of story. Again it seems like Bardock and his crew were more than just 4 team members doing jobs for Freeza. They really seemed like they were friends. Which is again why I get disappointed when Toei took the route of making them just Bardock and 3 random Saiyans.
