Possible early live-action DB movie script
For those of you who don't keep up on dragonballmovieblog frequently, they've posted something they came across that could either be the first version of the movie script or something pretending to be. It's not the final version if it's real- we know there's a tournament shot in the actual movie for one and this has none. But maybe a really early script.
Personally, I looked at it as a bad fanfic and found it both stupid and phenomenally entertaining (and then Goku is attacked by WOLVES. HUNDREDS OF THEM.) If anyone else wants to go through it, here's the link

I left a comment on that page. To me it's completely fake, there were to many inconsistencies.
Inconsistency Example: There was a part were it's regular Dragon Ball, and Goku somehow knows about "Namek". Plus, there was a character named Kira, which being a Death Note fan too... It reminds me of Death Note.

*Quickly downloads, but decides to hold off on actually reading it unless its proven to be a real script*.
I didn't know which one to post in!
But you're right, this thread's slightly older.
How easy is it to create a pdf?
EDIT: I googled the phone number on the first page of the PDF; "No results found for "323 658 8123"" .
So I'm leaning towards it being fake.
They did do their homework though; that is indeed a California area code.
Also checked the "author" of the file out, who is "mmarkowitz" and not Ben Ramsey.

Bulma: Can we lower the Testosterone here boys!
I can see that in a Trailer.
Reading this is quite inspiring, though I feel crushed by it to be honest.
Goku's a high school nerd who likes girls and hates training? WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!
This is very professional guys, and seems VERY American. I want to believe that it fakes but I can't decide. I like parts of it, like Puar as a cat that steals Bulma's wallet and the whole Star Wars part where Goku comes home and sees the burnt corpses of his friends. Page 53 is pretty funny, I actually laughed when he stepped over the dead guy.
This is seriously funny at some points, mainly when Muten Roshi appears.

Ah, I was just about to post a link as well.
Anyhow, I really wouldn't be surprised if this went either way. Firstly, it's a 128 page script... That's just too long for a joke. Secondly, as a script it's written very professionally, so the writer definitely knows how to write film scripts... but that can be learned by anyone to be honest.
However, the actual dialogue is just so awful, that I'm hoping it's fake, it's like cliche city in this story, everyone is a character archetype and stereotype. The fact that it's written to such a bad and cheesy degree, makes me hope it's fake
Another thing is that the top of the script says; "Dragonball Z" which would imply fakeness as the film is called Dragonball. (However, later in the script, it does say the title should be "Dragonball" on screen).
And then finally, if this is real, this is most probably an early script, a VERY early script. 1) Because it's just SO bad and 2) Because it's written by Ben Ramsey. For the film, James Wong rewrote the script, so this probably is only a rough idea of what the script will be like for the film.
So maybe Goku won't be such an immature, hotheaded 18 year old...
However, despite the script itself, I really like some of the ideas. That this is set in the future of our world, after the 21st Century was decimated by King Piccolo who sent the Oozaru the Destroyer (I wonder if that's Goku?) to crush everything. And the story progression itself isn't bad if you ignore what an irritating and unbelievable character Goku is.

I love humans, always seeing patterns in things that aren't there.
128 pages is not too long for a joke... Hehehehe. I once wrote a 110 page script for a TMNT movie back in 2003... (*hides the evidence*).
This... I absolutely cannot stand PDFs, so there's no telling if I'll read it.
... But from the soun of it, Goku is acting like GT Goten...

I can assure you right now, after just a cursory glance at the 'script', that it is 100% fake. This was not written by a professional because it makes way too many amature mistakes (I had filming classes that inlcuded script writing). It gets far to specific on non-details (real scripts don't give a shit if the boulder is 4-feet in diameter) and they also do not include sound-effects~
EDIT
I have to change my statement now. Upon further reading of this 'script' it is now clear to me that the person who wrote it does indeed have a working, possibly even a full, understanding of script writing. Some of these elements are just too perfectly done (in a comical fashion) for this to be anything other than an intentional parody. XD

That could be because if it's real, it's one of/the very first version of the script.
I mostly thought it was stupid but there actually were a few things I liked- the things Catterix noted for one. The interaction between Bulma and Yamcha was absolutely hysterical. The worst parts of the whole thing were Son as a whole (noooo my non-irlfriend betraayed me! I go cry now.) and how lame Daimaou was (AAHHAA FIVE SECONDS OF EVIL THEN DEATH!). And the idea of nameccians as a whole as being eeeeeevil is just silly to me. They're more than happy hanging out with their kids and farming if they're given the choice.

I didn't read it, but based on the comments it sounds as if this script was what a lot of the early rumors of the movie were based on. That, or somebody wrote this based on the early rumors. I dunno.
It's hard to say, but I doubt this is real considering how "hush hush" the studio is about the movie.

If it is a fake than we will probably hear about it from FOX in the next week or so. The same thing happened when FOX was developing Aliens vs Predator: Requiem, an early script was leaked onto the internet and FOX quickly jumped in to say that it was real, but only an early version of the final script. The thing is that the final script didn't change too much for Aliens vs Predator: Requiem, so if this is real it might be pretty close to the final draft!

I didn't much like the script. Then again, assuming it's legit, it's an old, old first draft (which Fox rejected) by Ben Ramsey. A shaky start, but a start none the less.
My other comfort is that Variety magazine said that Wong wrote his own script, and that Ramsey simply wrote the first one. Their wording of that makes me unbelievably happy, haha. But, of course, even if Wong and Chow just revised Ramsey's draft, they certainly changed a lot (including the main villain, along with expanding Chi-Chi's role, from what we know).
Anyway, I for one was really disappointed in Goku's portrayal in this version. I don't expect them to make him as naive as he is in the original series (Goku was very isolated in the manga/anime, which is his excuse . . . and in the movie, he's obviously not very isolated); I'm okay with them making him more serious or whatever. But they should at least keep some of his core values in tact. Goku, high schooler or not, would never blow his grandfather's b-day bash off for a high school party with girls. Just . . . no.

It's your birthday Goku! Let's play Dragonball! Yeah that was pretty idiotic, and so was Goku ditching his grandpa so he can go to a party a girl is having. Other than that little piece, Goku being a emo bitch, this script really is alright. The way Piccillo arrives at the end, that was great. A lot of this I pictured in my mind and I could see it. But the party, high school, and "let's play Dragonball!" stuff, that could be thrown away. I'd also have to add that I hope they keep the Krillin reference in the final product as one of Master Roshi's "new students."Velasa wrote:Something tells me that you didn't get to the part about Son and the party. So wait...Dragonball's a card game in this script? Meaning they based a card game off an old myth that ends up real...is this a DBZ/Yugioh movie smashed into one?ultimateemail5000 wrote:It's your birthday Goku! Let's play Dragonball!
