How was Tien able to hold back Cell with it? Wasn't Cell hundreds of times stronger than Tien?

Also, how come when I type 'Tie n' it says Tenshinhan? I know Tenshinhan is his real name but why is it changing?

Wow man you're really posting the hell outta the board. I think it was because Tenshinhan's kikoho is just a really strong attack that uses your life energy. Also, he only really had Cell down for a minute, it's not like he had a legitimate chance to beat him.

I don't know how you would be able to figure that out, but if Tien was using it against 18 then it certainly wouldn't beat her.

That attack is rather powerful, just the cost outwieghs the effectiveness often. Perhaps it could've taken out 18 or 17 at point-blank range, but depending on how much Tien put into it, it might be for naught.

One interesting theory that a few people have mentioned of late, is that Tenshinhan worked the Kaio-Ken into the Kikoho. Maybe he couldn't use the KK itself, but somehow worked the principle of it into the Kikoho, so that he could make the attack many times stronger than it might have otherwise been. Probably still not enough to actually really hurt someone of Cell's level, though. (remember, Cell didn't take any damage; he was just pushed back)

Or, maybe he could use Kaiô-Ken. He just never really had much of a chance to use it.

I wonder why king Kai didn't teach them the Kaioken. They were all on his planet for a much longer time than Goku. Maybe a human has a greater difficulty learning it.

Can you imagine if Piccolo learned the Kaioken? He'd be unbeatable.

The time that he fought Trunks in movie 9. But I guess it'd be unfair since Trunks himself didn't transform.

I was more talking about why Toriyama wouldn't have him use the technique in the series proper (assuming he even learned it. I'm being purely hypothetical).

It's not a movie mistake, it's Trunks and Tien having a friendly fight. Trunks isn't going to go super saiyan crazy on Tien and kill him.

I don't know.

I just know he is a lot stronger than Tenshinhan.

It's impossible to compare how much stronger someone is unless you have official power levels which at this point we do not.

At the start of DBZ you could say someone is twice or three times stronger but at this point it's impossible and pointless. All that matters now is who is stronger not by how much.
