Burst Limit - Ridiculous fights

Post by Akira » Sat Jul 12, 2008 8:50 pm

I was having fun with this game all the way through until I beat Cell. Got a Z ranking on all the fights on Normal difficulty, and was enjoying myself. Then came the Broly sub-saga. Broly vs. Piccolo specifically is a mind bending struggle to even win, let alone attain Z ranking, even on so called "Normal" difficulty. Piccolo blocks nearly every single thing I try against him. The fact that I have to play as this hulking, slow as a snail peice of trash "Legendary Super Saiyan" is just annoying as hell. He sucks, and he sucks bad. I have quite literally tried to win this fight over 20 times today with no success. I have nearly broken my controller twice out of frustration. I cannot understand why a "Normal" mode fight plays like the game is set on "Impossibly Hard" or something.

Does anyone have any strategies for someone new to the game, so I can win this, finish the stupid Broly section, and get Z ranking? This is supposed to be "Normal Mode". I had no problems with Raditz through Perfect Cell, so why is beating Piccolo with Broly nigh impossible? It makes no sense whatsoever.

Spam guard breaks. That's what I had to do for the entire Broly story.

This brand new, very boring, Broli story is what really made me hate this game. It's like they were thinking .... you know what, I'm not even going into it until I make my video review rant about this game.

But on top of the blocking thing, there's like really no way to break it. I even have the Fighting Stick 3, which makes fighting games a hell of a lot easier, and it's still the worst experience ever. God I hate this game, but I'm going to stop right now for my video review.

AY!

Anyways; I played this game over at my cousin's place with a friend two days ago. It's fast paced, and pretty fun. This has practically nothing over Budokai 3 at all to be honest though. Mind you, I'm basing all of my opinions over about an hour and a half of playing against my cousin and a friend.

I found that Burst Limit seems to take the fun out of playing with tactics, and actual skills. For instance, Budokai 3's battle system would require an individual to first go into some...'red fiery mode' of some sort, and THEN connecting an attack 'L2' at the right time with precision to execute a certain character's 'Ultimate attack'. For Burst Limit, it was practically, stay alive long enough for the Ki bar to reach it's max in order to execute that ultimate attack.

The strange thing is that the friend I played against hardly comprehends the ability to play Budokai 1, 2, or 3 well at all, and yet he picked up Burst Limit right from the get-go and absolutely pummeled me and my cousin for a good few rounds.

Lets see. I hadn't played Burst Limit in almost a month, since I've been Metal Gear obsessed. But I tried playing Burst Limit yesterday and, to be honest, I now hate this game. I never realized until now how much the computer blocks. Its ridiculous. Its not fun. Maybe its because I've heard so many people complain about the blocking lately, but I just suddenly became very aware of this. And now I can't stand it, and I think I'm about to retire the game permanently. :?

I retired 'Budokai Tenkaichi 3' within 30 minutes. The gameplay of that series is the biggest turn off ever. I probably would've had more fun playing...say... thumb wars with my girlfriend.

It's funny, the only games I really enjoy playing from the ps2 era are Tenkaichi1 and Sagas. Tenkaichi3 just isn't as fun as it should be (and I have no idea why... :? ), and I can't stand the mechanics of the budokais (>.<. If I ever need a burst of anger to go ssj, I guess I could get out one of them...).
Though, I always play sagas in CoOp, and always with my 9-year-old cousin, who isn't immensely good at team work... and CoOp in sagas is made increasingly annoying when one player is using a super while the other is in the middle of a fast-paced melee fight (At this point I've gotten over most of the blatent flaws in sagas other than tht one. And the Pendulum fight with the Cell Jrs never ending...).

... Ur... so I guess burst limit doesn't sound like fun. Youtube videos ftw? :?

The insane blocking in Burst Limit starts in the Namek saga and continue until the end. And if you're trying to get all Z ranks you have to mix up the combat and constantly using block crushers sometimes burn their health down and then you have to try to squeeze other attachs into the fight.

I haven't played BT3 in a few months. Once I bought all the items and started setting up characters it got very boring very fast. I wish that I had gotten the PS2 version cuz then I'd at least have the extra two modes to play in.

Wait, BT3 is better than Burst Limit? The reviews I saw said otherwise.

I can see how the CPU constantly blocking might really annoy people. After all, it is something that actually takes some skill and patience to counter. There's obviously ways to get through it, as shown by videos from the very same Broly vs Goku fight on YouTube.

I am right now. I'd rather play with dead baby body parts then Burst Limit. Hell I would rather play Bible Games on the NES than play this piece of shit. I would rather beat GTA 4 5 times then play this. This game SUCKS!

Which game are you referring to, because you have to press more than one button for an attack in both games. :D

I prefer Tenkaichi 3 as well, but you just sound like your raving now lol. AVGN style.

Gimme a Sparking! adventure game then I'd probably prefer the gameplay more. Online's a blast for Burst Limit. Can't really say much for Meteor. The lag was unbearable.
