Dragon Ball: Advance Adventure (a reverse-reverse import) :D

Post by Tenken » Mon Aug 23, 2004 10:22 pm

TOKYO--According to VJump magazine, Banpresto will release a new Dragon Ball action game for Game Boy Advance later this year titled Dragon Ball: Advance Adventure. The game will be based on Goku's childhood stories of when he traveled around trying to find the seven mystical dragon balls.

Players in the 2D side-scrolling action game control Goku and fight through stages based on the original manga and anime's storyline. Some examples of the stages are: the wilderness, home of the kung-fu bandit Yamcha; Pilaf's castle, which is full of booby traps; Muscle Tower, where players must fight different enemies on each floor; and the Tenkaichi Budou Kai, where Goku battles one-on-one against other fighters, such as Tenshinhan. Aside from punching and kicking, Goku can execute Kamehameha blasts, and he can also attack with his Nyoibo stick, which gives him extra range and allows him to deflect enemy shots.

Dragon Ball: Advance Adventure is slated for release in November in Japan at the retail price of 5,040 yen ($46).
Proof?

How's it a reverse-reverse import?

That was my corny attempt at a joke. I'm glad to know that it failed. ;_;

This got me thinking...Maybe a ps2 fighter from them isn't out of the question now. They still have to redeem themselves for final bout. XD

Given it's from Banpresto, the likelyhood of it making it over here is less than might be expected, as Banpresto NEVER puts games out over here. Which explains why we never got the fun (and Toriyama designed) Go Go Ackman games for the SNES. Atari will surely try to get the rights for an NA distribution, since DB games are pretty much like a liscence for Atari to print money, even when they're awful. Someone should shoot whoever decided that Taiketsu was suitable for release to anybody, fans or no.

Err... Banpresto did "Legendary Super Warriors" and "Super Sonic Warriors," originally, and we got both of those :P.

Okay, I woulda sworn Bandai did one of those, or both, but I bow to your greater knowledge.

Feb. maybe?

Anyway, Taiketsu was so horrid, it should be recalled and destroyed, like E.T. for the 2600.

And I hope Advance Adventure is good ^_^

Oh my goodness. I must import this.

But I wonder how far the story will go? The latest thing they've mentioned is Tenshinhan.

Also, I love the Engrish in those scans. The bosses are labeled as "Boos"!

I think the answer you're looking for is at the top of the last scan. :)

I love how they're still spelling it "G O K O U" even after all these years. Even *I* corrected myself! :D

For those wondering what the french site said about the game; there really wasn't much.

1) Banpresto confirmed release of game for November of this year in Japan.

2) "We can assume this was the rumoured Red Ribbon Army game that got a lot of random hype and then disappeared. Here's some scans."

The rest is about the success of SSW in the US and that it came in 5th place for most sold GBA game for the month of July, that SSW comes out the 27th in France, and that a hundred ppl got to beta test Budoukai 3 on the 18th. Since it was still in the beta stage, the only playable characters were Goku, Broly, Cooler, Piccolo, Majin Boo and young Gohan (Cell saga).

What they people liked about B3 were the new features such as a new ki system (energy bar for making techniques), possibility of countering opponent by following their ki (teleportation or dodging).

Under the screen caps of B3 it says that the latest Gamepro confirms that instead of DragonWorld there's DragonUniverse (instead of being restricted to a plateau you can fly off wherever the hell you want to) and the introduction of DragonArena (survival game).

New Characters we haven't heard of included Bardock, Uub and Li Shenlong. (And in case it wasn't specified, they mention Non-SSJ4 Gogeta and SSJ4 Gogeta as 2 seperate characters)[/quote]

My only problem with GamePro reporting characters like Uub and Ii-Shinlon are... well... GamePro sucks. I need something a little more authoritative than them to confirm it, for me :P But that has nothing to do with this game.

I didn't even put it together that this might have been the "Red Ribbon Army" game; it makes a lot of sense. I wouldn't assume that Atari would be working on two GBA games at the same time.

Well in the add (in SJ #21) for the Prima's strategy guides for Buu's Fury and B3, next to the B3 guide was YI XING LONG vs SSJ4 Vegeta. The artwork wasn't from anything GT related and I doubt they'd use YI XING LONG as promotion if he's not even in the game so maybe...
