Shinron is ONLY a mispronunciation of Xing Long? (Like "Piccoro" instead of "Piccolo"?)

It's not a "mis"-pronunciation, per say... it IS how the Japanese are able to pronounce the Chinese characters. The problem with that is the characters ARE Chinese and thus have ORIGINAL Chinese pronunciations.

(BTW, for those who don't know, this is referring to the evil dragons in DBGT being called "---shinlon" and not "---shenron." More info can be found here.)

"Shinlon"? With an l? But the tidbits section uses an r. Which was a flub? You in this thread or the tidbits section?

The section was beautifully done btw. Might I suggest random pics of the Xing Long in question in order to dress it up with visuals?

Eh, I guess I'm just used to the "L." It's really just one of those R/L things. The Chinese is "Xing Long," so I automatically write "Shinlon."

I don't know anything about Chinese... how do you pronounce Xing Long? I'm sure it's far from how it looks.

For some reason "Tcheeng Lowng" stands out for me all of a sudden, but I always read it as "Zing Long".

For me, "Sheen Loan" with softened "n" sounds (like at the end of "ring") gets the job done. But then, my Chinese hasn't won me any awards, either.

Also, I'm almost certain it's "Ja'aku Ryu" (Evil Dragon) rather than "Da'aku Ryu" (Dark Dragon).
