King Cold and his forms

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

King Cold and his forms

Post by Forgotten Hero » Thu Sep 04, 2008 2:34 am

I know there probably isn't much information on what form King Cold could use or was in. I always thought he was in the second form. Like Freeza's second form.

Is it ever stated or implied that King Cold is in the second form or very first transformation?

I don't think it was ever stated. He certainly looked like Freeza's second form due to the shape of the horns.

Nothing about what form he may be in is ever given, or even anything to indicate that he transforms at all.

It isn't even clearly stated how strong he is in comparison to Freeza. I really disapprove of how vague they are with Cold.

'With how powered up I am (referring to his mechanical enhancements), I can beat him [the super saiyan] myself.'

Which sort of implies that Cold is at least as powerful as Freeza, a concept that I really don't like.

Except Freeza refers to himself as the "strongest in the universe" right in front of King Cold, rather strongly implying that Cold's weaker than him. Daizenshuu 7's bio of Kind Cold says that despite being the head of the family, he is "somewhat inferior to Freeza".

I'm sure Gohan stated there was another huge source of power similiar to Freeza's. So we know Cold is at least as powerful as suppressed Freeza's power. Gohan later stated he could raise his power much more then the current power they sensed, so Freeza's is superior to Cold by a good amount. I just don't think Cold could increase his power like Freeza could.

The anime stated "there was a power greater then Freeza's", and in various versions of the manga as well.
"First I whip it out! Then I thrust it! With great force! Every angle...! It penetrates! Until...! With great strength...! I... ram it in! In the end... We are all satisfied... And you are set free...!" ~Dante~

This is news to me. I am glad, because I never liked the idea of someone even stronger than Freeza just showing up out of nowhere.

There's just one complication - if Freeza is stronger than Cold, why is Cold referred to with Daio-sama and Freeza just with -sama? It implies that Cold stands above Freeza in the ranks of the planet-trade empire, doesn't it?
It's all GOOD

Just seniority, I guess. Like King Saul and David from the Bible. Saul was the actual king and doing the ruling, but David was the one winning the battles and getting all the glory.

Yeah. I guess Freeza was just too fond of his father to kill him off and take his place. Or maybe he didn't like the paperwork and left it to the old man while he was off blowing up planets. Who knows.

Looks more to me like they both got along really well, one being just as evil as the other, and all. The family that slays together, stays together.

Freeza: "Daddy! Look at this! I wiped clean and killed the inhabitants of three whole planets today! Then I completely blew up a fourth!"
Kold: "Oh, wonderful, Freeza, I'm so proud of you! Not like your disappointing bum of a brother."
Cooler: "You ARE evil."

Lol, sounds right to me. But with characters like Freeza I'm never sure if they'd be above killing people even that close to them.

When Trunks kills Freeza, King Cold is surprised, but doesn't seem overly bothered or angry. He might have just been fearful for his own life of course. Different folks react in different ways.

I suppose you're right. Evil is evil, so they probably don't care all that much if it means more power for themselves. I wonder then why Cooler seemed so intent on getting "revenge" against Goku; might just be a "eliminate the competition" sort of thing.

But at the same time, they don't have any reason not to trust each other. Cold probably raised and molded Freeza and Cooler into what they were.

I always interpreted it as Freeza's defeat at the hands of a Saiya-jin sullied the name of the Cold clan.

I say you MUST incorporate this into your GT fic somehow.

Oh yeah, you're a regular reader. I'll think about it, probably if I ever do another comedy-oriented, "non-canon" chapter.

Are you aware Chapter 10 has been up for a while? It's not getting much traffic...

BUT ANYWAY, Freeza and family. You're right, Awesome, that was his main goal, wasn't it? Can't believe that slipped my mind.

Maybe Freeza was the figurehead of the corporation, while the real strength remained in the shadows. Similar to how Freeza sent his minions out to do the dirty work while he remained in the comforts of his ship or on one of his planets. I think the relationship between Cold and Freeza was never explored because the focus was on how much greater the Super Saiyans were in power compared to the old enemies to emphasize the strength of the new ones.
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

It's kind of like a Mafia thing. He had to pay his debt. BLOOD FEUD. Honor killing?

I agree. It's more about the principle of it. Like if you stole something from Freeza, even if he didn't want/need it, he'd still kill you just for stealing it from him.
