Dragonball Z: Sagas Evolution-[update]for GC, PS2 and XBOX!

Post by sangofe » Wed Sep 08, 2004 4:29 am

I was very sceptical about this game, and I guess I still am, but I have a bit more hope than what I used to have.

First, lets get the facts straight, there will be a video of this with collector edition of Dragon ball Z budokai 3 (see http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/sh ... did=406597 and click the link in one of the posts),
so I guess unless all the websites selling this listed the contents very wrongly, there's no denying that there will indeed be a dbz game named as topic says.

People are saying this will be an rpg, on the website selling the game it says action game, I personally hope it will be an action/adventure game with elements of RPG.

If I am not misstaken, this is the game they started showing videos from in 2001.
At that time aquicktime movi was released online,
you could see Goku flying around on kinto-un.
I also saw some screencaptures in a french gaming magazine.
This game was supposedly being released for game-cube.
If this is the game, it will mean that they've at least worked 4 years on it!
It should be good!
And if you look at the link the strategy guide is 128 pages...

I know my post seems a bit out of order and all, but I'm kinda exited and want all facts down.

To terminate this,
do you guys think this is misslead information, and that this game is coming out? Or do you think it will be a game, and what genre
(yeah I know, the easiet would be to wait for the collector version coming out, but I am not patient, heh)

Perhaps this is just the new Bandai "Advance Adventure" (or what have you) game that Atari originally listed as "Red Ribbon Army" on their site... ?

There's already a butt-load of games coming out both in Japan AND the US, so I find it hard to believe that ANOTHER game would suddenly surface.

Here's what we KNOW we're expecting:

- Budokai 3 / DBZ3 (joint US/Japan)
- Advance Adventure (Japan)
- Legacy of Goku 4 (US)

Now, Atari had listed that "Red Ribbon Army" game a while back on their old site. It made sense that this would have been "Advance Adventure," which will be a side-scroller concerning Goku from the original DB. I don't know what this new game would be, but perhaps it's just that same GBA game.

Then again, I know nothing.

Well, it would not be weird, since they started an adventure game for gamecube (i still have the video on hard drive) back in 2000...
I hope this is it and that they have worked on it all these years, but anyway, we will know when budokai3 comes out!

And, I highly doubt its the red ribbon army game

I hate when people write reviews of games based on what they see on websites.

I based my words on wishfull thinking and a video I saw released about 4 years ago on E3 game show, a game supposedly coming for Game Cube.

I've never heard of that; you think you could share the video and the details? :D

I think I know the video you're talking about...

Could it be the one that went back and forth from anime scenes
and videogame renders of DBZ locations? Because if so... couldn't
that be easily excused as a preview for Budokai 1? The BG's look
identical to the 1st Budokais...

It is that one, but I certainly dont think it looks like budokai1.
Just think about,
fans have asked and asked for action/adventure/rpg for many years,
wouldn't it be a smart move to call this game cancelled and develop it in secret?
I certainly do.

Yes, I could send it somewhere.

I remember that seeing that video on a show about E3 that year. That was, indeed, Budokai I believe.

How the heck could that have been Budokai?
It was NOTHING about fighting.
it was goku running around like an action/platform/RPG game.
And he was seen on kinton.

Yeah, I remember what he was talking about. It showed some scenes that I dont remember seeing in Budokai 1. Whether or not its for Evolution is beyond me.

Bumping another semi-old thread. What do we know about this game, thus far? System? Genre? Characters? Anything? ^^;;

Well, let's see. It's being advertised as "the first ever DBZ action game", so we can assume it's not going to be just another Budokai. The Legacy of Goku series could be classified as action games too, so I don't think it's going to be on the GBA. I would guess it will come out on PS2 first, since they've been releasing them that way thus far.

The strategy guide is already available to order at Amizon, with a release date of March 22nd 2005.

I guess that's all that's known so far. I guess we'll just have to wait until Nov. 16 to see that "sneak peek" they promised with Budokai 3 collectors edition.

Oh, cool. I actually get to choose which version I will purchase if the game's OK. =D

So I was right after all, about it not being another GBA game. Now I can't wait to see what they've got cooked up. Now is it just me, or does that price tag look strangely low?

Quite a few games are starting to release with a $40 price tag rather than a $50, it gets people to buy right away, since otherwise everyone would wait a few weeks until retailers drop the price. Some games, though, are those must-have titles that can support the $50 price for a couple months or more. MegaMan X: Command Mission, was the most recent example I can think of to go the $39.99 route. The GameCube price being $29.99 is weird, though.

Wow, finally a game for people that have X-Boxes and like DBZ. Now that's how many... 10 people?
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!
