Someone From UK Help, Your DVD Covers = Crapptacular

Well, Iam talking about the first few movies, the covers are pretty bad....

But I noticed they used the original Japanese names for these movies, also on movie 4 they call Goku, Son Goku. Is this dub different? do they actually say Son Goku? If so what other changes are there, Iam really interested.

While were on the subject... look how cool the Saiyan saga boxset looks in France!!!!!

The French DVD's are FR dub only if I remember it right, cool art though.

And in the Netherlands the covers for the movies are really, really awful. Because they stick the wrong name with the wrong [screencaptured] cover.

[second part of the page; notice that Super Battle of the World is released as movie 1, with a movie 1 screencap as cover. And so on...]

Aren't all the British DB series dubs by the Ocean Group? Totally craptacular boxart beating us by far... but I bet they have a better dub... (from what I've seen of British/Canadian DBGT)

And I must say WOW to the French boxset! Hats off to that designer! But it's no surprise, DB has always been huge in France!

While we're on the subject of stupid box-art:

The third german DB VHS. Contains some early Pilaf saga episodes. Yeah.

The TV version is. However, those movies are apparently dubbed by a completely different company, and have appalling voice acting. I've never plucked up the courage to buy one to see for certain, though.

Ok! Lets see who can find the WORST Dragonball (z) (gt) DVD cover.

I submit this here for movie 2 (movie 3 to us Americans) This cover is a super crappy screen cap.

o_O WTF...SSJ3 Gotenks, Broli, and adult Gohan...in movie 2? That's more than complete incompetance, it's blatant false advertising. Hm...

*imagines a new DBZ movie where Gotenks fights Broli*

Is that REALLY movie 2?

In Germany, movie 12 has the title: Dragon Ball Z - The Movie (or something).

"The Movie" is a "special cut" of 12 and 13. It's the only DVD without the japanese dub (only german). -_-
All Movie and Special DVDs (also the TV Series) were bought by AB Groupe (French Version).
Also the UK Movies based on the french Version. So they get a grandpa Goku and Piccolo ("Big Green" >_>) and a midget Chichi...

As I recall, the French DVD boxset of the Saiyan Saga, that you are referring to was released in 2001. I had tried to get a hold of these when I started to buy DB/Z French dub DVDs, but found that they were discontinued.

Strangely enough, starting from about the end of 2002, new Dragonball/ Z French dub DVDs (these are the ones I have) began to be released. Now, these DVDs are nearing the end of the Frieza arc (for DBZ) and the Tenshinhan arc (for DB). However the cover art isn't as good.

See here: http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B0 ... ZZZZZZ.jpg

However, I have no clue why there were two different DVD sets released...
