FUNimation's Next Step?
Hi, guys:
Now, with the re-releases from FUNimation for the movies on Blu-ray and the remastered episodes boxsets, soon they will reach the end of the series, and they will have nothing left to release (except maybe the same material to Blu-ray).
What do you want them to do next? For me, I want these things:
1- Single releases for the remastered episodes (A DVD broke; you have to buy the yellow box again?!)
2- Release the movies for the PSP format (UMD versions)
3- Dub and release Dr. Slump's first and second series with the movies (not related to DBZ, but for me, you need to watch Dr. Slump if you are a hardcore DB/Toriyama fan, especially with the crossovers of those two series)

Re: Funimation's next step?
Neither of those are ever going to happen, nor should they. You need to realize that for the season boxsets, you're paying slightly higher than the original retail price of the FUNimation single releases of DBZ. Single releases are a thing of the past. FUNimation aren't going back down that route. If you broke a DVD, find the relevant single releases; they're pretty cheap.
If you want to watch Dragonball on your PSP, rip the episodes from your DVD and encode them to a format your PSP recognizes. There are free programs that will let you do this at essentially the click of a button. UMD video is an absolutely terrible format and is essentially dead in the water; there is absolutely no point for FUNimation to do it, or you as a consumer to buy it.

If they did that with Laura Bailey or Luci Christian as Arale, I would love them forever.SHINOBI-03 wrote:3- Dub and release Dr. Slump's first and second series with the movies (not related to DBZ, but for me, you need to watch Dr. Slump if you are a hardcore DB/Toriyama fan, especially with the crossovers of those two series)

Heard that. Haven't really played the Tenkaichi series and never heard it though. How was she?JulieYBM wrote:Brina Palencia voiced her in Sparking METEOR.Super Sonic wrote:If they did that with Laura Bailey or Luci Christian as Arale, I would love them forever.SHINOBI-03 wrote:3- Dub and release Dr. Slump's first and second series with the movies (not related to DBZ, but for me, you need to watch Dr. Slump if you are a hardcore DB/Toriyama fan, especially with the crossovers of those two series)

I haven't got the third game, but is she the one who voiced her in the anime and/or the 3rd movie? Or did they use different voices for the three?JulieYBM wrote:Sweet enough she could rot your teeth.Super Sonic wrote:Heard that. Haven't really played the Tenkaichi series and never heard it though. Do you mean Dragon Box: The Movies? If they did that, then I want to have the scouter packed with it... to crush it while watching the Ocean dub.LeprikanGT wrote:American releases of the Dragon Boxes would be AWESOME! I want them in English, or maybe those single DVDs [the yellow ones].
Well, we know Antonelli moved somewhere out of state so it makes sense. At one point didn't Colleen Clinkenbeard voice #18?DB_Fan wrote:They probably used her as a replacement voice. She also voiced Bra in Sparking NEO.JulieYBM wrote:I don't think so. Palencia was voicing Chaozu and Pu'ar for METEOR so I figure they just had her do the voice.

All I want are the Dragonboxes with Steve Simmons' subtitles at a reasonable price. I'm sure it will come eventually, but I want them to not touch the footage... just leave it as it is and not do any faux remastering.
Other cool things would be just some of the other pieces of rare footage that wasn't in the Dragonboxes (Televikko infomercial, Nippon Ijin Taisho 2007 and whatnot). On a more realistic side, stuff like the new special would be greatly appreciated.
**I really, really, really want FUNimation to allow VIZ the right to release material with snapshots of their licensed footage so that we can get English releases of the rest of the Daizenshuu!**
I don't really give a crap about any of FUNimation's other releases (or any other anime releases period for that matter), so just giving us the Dragonboxes will satisfy me.

They'll be releasing their 'remastered' episodes on Blu-ray for sure. As for the things you want:SHINOBI-03 wrote:Hi, guys:

1. No, that defeats the entire point of the season sets.
2. UMD is a pointless and dead format. Rip the episodes and throw them on your Memory Stick. Why you would want to watch whole episodes on a PSP is beyond me.
3. I don't think there is a market for Dr. Slump. I don't know anything about Dr. Slump, but from what I've read it's nothing but fart jokes. (Anyone care to enlighten me?) They won't make enough money from hardcore Toriyama fans.
As soon as they finish releasing the YYH boxsets, which are wonderful by the way, I will be done with FUNi. Anything Dragon Ball related that I want, I will be getting from Japan.

I want them to release the rest of Ultimate Uncut NOT Remastered and I'll be right as rain.
They won't be reaching the end soon. They have another 3 or so releases to go, so that's close to a year's time right there. The GT Season Sets will be released right along with them. As for the movies, I mean we have another 4 (at least) releases to go, so that's a year or more. And then, we've got the long-awaited Dragon Ball sets. And after that, I think FUNimation will finally put to rest the Dragon Ball series. ALTHOUGH... I have a feeling that they will do something "big" for the movie's release. Like they would do something to hype up the movie, and vice versa, the release of the movie would make people want to go back to see Dragon Ball. That usually happens with super hero movies and such, that with a movie's release, that super hero becomes popular instantly because people want to go brush up on it.
Who knows, they might even not take 15 years to dub the new special coming out... Though I'm not excited about it. I mean come on. We've all seen the model sheets right? They look tiny, as if they haven't used their arms in 5 years. A shrimpy-looking Goku who looks like he's about to plant corn in a field somewhere.
