Goten's Hair

A bit of an odd topic, but does it strike anyone else as strange that Chi-Chi and/or Gohan had Goten's hair cut like Goku's as a child? I mean, I realize the off-stage reason was Mr. Toriyama realized people would miss Goku so he created a mini-stand in character, but if you look in-storywise, Goku's hair grew that way naturally, whereas Goten's should've grown out the way Gohan's does. Did Goten know Goku's hair looked that way before he formally met him?

Who knows maybe over the years the Japanese fans complained that he did not look enough like Kakarrot. If that was the case then I know they really had a problem with the end of Z and GT.

The way I understand it, Goten's hair naturally grew out like Goku's. However, in order to not be confused with Goku, he had it cut differently when he was older.

Pfft, anyone could tell who's who if he kept his hairstyle, just point out the one who's actually always there with his family.

lol I think it was to show that Goten looked a lot like Goku. Gohan says something about how much Goten looks like him. If Goten had different hair, then he'd look like any other character, since their faces are the same and the only real difference is the hair anyway.

Goku was there for the ten years after Buu.

But yeah, I'm gonna go with Goten's hair naturally looks like Goku's (at least to start with, since Gohan's hair changed styles too).

See, I wouldn't like it if Goten kept his hair like Goku's when he got older, and I didn't even mind his GT hair...although in some...or most shots, it looked terrible, but the hair he had 10 years after the Buu fight has gotta be hands down the worst, weirdest pile of garbage trapped on a character's head I've seen.

Yeah well, I didn't include that since all they'd have to go by is the short one at the time, later on it could just be pointing out the one who's there.

I liked his hair at the end of Z. I thought it was the sort of mess of a hairstyle a 17 year old might have. Kind of similar to the hair I had.

I kind of have that hairstyle right now. >_>;

Except less spiky...and not as long.

Saiyans hair stays the same since they are born [go and listen to the vegeta speech in the android saga] so if goten DOES have goku hair at the when he was a kid; he should have ALWAYS had that hair or a shorter version if he cut it. the end of Z hair is a plot hole; his GT has is fine bc all he did was cut it short

... Perhaps you missed the part where he was referring to full-blooded Saiyans. How many times has Gohan's hair changed? What about Trunks' (when he was a kid, his hair combs over on the side, when he's an adult it's in the middle)?

Full-blooded Saiyans' hair style stays the same. Half-blooded Saiyan/Humans' hair changes.

Touche - forgot about that; trunks always kept the bowl cut, so idk why they went with end of Z goten hair.

i did however love ss goten hair in GT - when they actually drew him close up and not crappy.

Yeah. I liked his GT hair when done right. You know, when they actually put detail into it, not when it was just a black (or gold) smudgy outline.

I kinda liked it, but then they cut down Vegeta's hair so he, Gohan, and Goten all had nearly the same haircut, especially at Super Saiyan.

I think gohan should have had that little flick on hair in the front still and i liked gotens bc the rest was short 'cept for his bands - in the scenes they actually drew Vegetas face right in gt i really liked his hair [yay for him being in the new game]

Well, Trunks did have long hair for a while, Which in my opinion was kick ass and should have been left alone. Both Future Trunks and normal Trunks should have had it.

Vegeta in GT with a mustache looks just like Freddy Mercury...a no no there. Also it's too short.
The hair styles in GT were bad.
Sure, Gohan kept his hair the same, but it was strange that it kept changing into yellow, almost like a SSJ...
Goten's hairstyle was not that special. I don't like that he didn't cut it like Goku's. Teenagers...
