Character's jobs

Post by zain316 » Mon Oct 27, 2008 2:39 am

Do you ever wonder what Goku, Yamcha, Tien, Krillin, and others occupation is? Throughout the series most of the time these guys are training to fight, what kind of job do they have? Gohan obviously grows up into a professor/teacher. What about the others?

Goku catches fish, chops down trees for firewood and lives in the wilderness, he doesn't need a job, Yamcha is a Baseball player, Tenshinhan and Chaozu don't have jobs, but Chaozu does like to dress up as a street urchin and picks a pocket or two, and Kuririn is a male stripper.

All true.

God knows where Roshi gets his money, I'm guessing he's a street magician, I don't have any proof of this, but I just like to believe it.

*Gets a mental image of Juuhachigou pimping Kuririn for cash*. o_O;;;;;

I can see her with the feather hat too.... '_';;;;;

Well, if the animated special is any indication, Goku's a farmer. I can see why Chi-Chi chose vegetables; as after watching an episode of Dirty Jobs on Discovery about sheep-farming; I can't imagine Goku doing half of what that entails. (The farmers have to bite sheep things off with their TEETH to prevent certain sheep from breeding!)

Yamcha's definitely got the baseball thing going...and luckily that sport lets you continue playing into your 40's so he's good for that. I suppose w/that money he'd be good for early retirement.
And if that fell through I can always see him as a little league coach or a gym teacher or something.

*Imagines Vegeta working customer service*......nah. :lol:
I can't see Vegeta having any job; he's too haughty.

I think Tenshinhan and Chaotzu just wander the land like some type of super-powered hobos. Maybe occasionally riding horses or buffalo or those large ostrich-type birds Goku is sometimes depicted riding. Yeah...
*Pun related to Ocean line about three-eyed cowboys not intended*

Roshi could be part of some international dirty magazine trade...but that wouldn't work out because he's a hermit.

It's way too late at night for me to be brainstorming answers like this. ^^;
On hiatus.

Y'kno, quite a lot of the cast are moochers.

Vegeta and Yamcha mooch off Bulma, who's mooching off her Father for the most part. Though, later, things change a bit and we got Vegeta and Trunks mooching off Momma Bulma.

Kuririn and 18 are mooching off Muten-roshi who, for some reason, seems to have funds to spare. Saved up Budokai rewards, perhaps?

Goku, Chichi and kids mooch off her pop's hoarded up treasure until Gohan gets a job of his own...
And then marries Videl and they both mooch off Mr.Satan.

Bunch of free-loaders, the lot of them!

Well, what happened to that jewel they retrieved from the Pirate cave back when Blue was still flying around?
Maybe Bulma got an excavation team to go down and retrieve some of the Pirate treasures. :P. Or maybe #18 ... but then I doubt she'd have made that deal with Satan.
Chaozu can cook!
Lunch is apparently a truckdriver?
Yamcha... took up Golf. :D

(Actually, I'm a bit confused as to why Yamcha became a martial artist in the first place, since he was a bandit (where it was useful), then... ur... why after that? Hmm.).

I think saying something like "Trunks mooches off Bulma" is like saying that Gohan mooches off Chi-Chi as a child.

Yeah, as far as I recall, they got it back off Lunch. Or is this another one of those things I've remembered wrong? :? [/code]

Bulma gave it to Roshi to pay for his lost submarine.

Goku and Chichi lived off Goku's 23rd Budokai winnings for a long time.

No they didn't. Goku left without getting the money for winning.

And the entire tournament was destroyed, so the money probably got vaporized with the buildings.

And everybody forgot Bulma - streetwalker.

And you think Roshi actually cashed it in? Remember where Bulma had it. I doubt Roshi would part with something like that.

:lol: <----- Imagining Yamcha as a gym teacher

Wasn't Yamcha like a MVP when he played baseball too, so I'd imagine he got a pretty hefty contract.

Originally Yamcha was a bandit, and then became a baseball player.

Tenshinhan and Chaozu mostly live off the wildnerness, so I would assume they live off Tenshinhan's prize money from the 22nd budokai since they rarely need to spend any.

Lunch is a thief.

Even though Kamesennin was "just another budokai winner," everybody is amazed by his name. This leads me to believe he fought in other tournaments as well in his prime, amassed a minor fortune, and then retired.

Krillin is a mooch. #18 also mooched up to the 25th budokai.

Goku lives off his 23rd budokai savings and dowery left from Gyumao. When this runs out, Goten earns them 500,000 zeni.

Vegeta is a mooch, but he may have earned himself the budokai prize for the 28th budokai; all he'd have had to do is forfeit the Championship Match to Satan.

Am I forgetting anyone?

I don't think Vegeta would lose on purpose. :lol:
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

Alright, seriously, was this stated anywhere? Goku flies off as soon as the tournament ends, when did he get the money?

It's not like he couldn't just have it given later... Goku might forget but I doubt Chi Chi would just be like "yeah forget all that money."

Besides, we see in the Piccolo saga that registration includes address.
