Dragon Ball GT: Season Sets - Opening Theme Speculation

I started this topic on the FUNimation forum, but I might as well post it here:

In the DBZ remastered sets, Cha-La-Head-Cha-La was replaced with "Generic" Rock Guitar Riff, does anyone know how FUNimation will handle GT? It'd be nice to see FUNimation dub DAN DAN Kokoro Hikarate'ku, if they could dub the Opening and Ending themes to the Original Dragon Ball, why not Z or GT?

Also think about it, anything GT wise usually gets treated better than Z, and there is usually no legal problems at all. So, maybe a Dub of DAN DAN isn't too far fetched.

It doesn't seem unreasonable when you think about it logically. Unfortunately, that is the fatal error in your reasoning; you're applying normal logic to Funimation's handling of a Dragonball property. I think you could come closer to the truth if you drew lots.

As for the topic, I imagine that funimation will probably put "Step into the grand tour"(wait it's not to late to change my mind about the worst dragonball song in the universe is it?) for the dub opening, so to get Dan Dan you will have to do what I do with the Z sets (if your watching it dubbed that is) and switch the audio at the begining of the episode.

I dunno what to expect either. But I am sure that the original opening video will be used, as opposed to two separate video angles.

I doubt that they will actually dub Dan Dan just for these box sets though. That would show to much effort. I am thinking that they will, 1) either use the background music only version of of Dan Dan or 2) just use the Japanese version. I would prefer the latter of the two. A dub of it would be really cool, but I really doubt that will happen.

Yeah, at least we can hope for the Japanese Version to stay, if they don't dub it. That'll suck if the opening for the Dub is just another "Hardcore Gangsta Rap Song" or "Rock Guitar riff".

If they dont extend it rest assured that they will just use another generic guitar theme like they did for Z.

Also, on a side note, do you guys think that Dec.9 will actually be the final release date? It has been bumped up about four times and funimation hasn't really started promoting it that much yet.

We can be pretty sure December 9 is the final release date. We're a week and a half away from release date; if it was going to be pushed back, it probably would have been done by now.

Well, what we can hope is that "Dan Dan" is kept, but since the opening themes for Z were replaced in the Japanese music track, it might be replaced here too. Of course, FUNi treats GT better than Z, so they might surprise us.

If they decide to replace it, I'm sure they'll either create a new piece of music that's as long as the opening animation or use the extended version of the GT rap that was used for the TV special's ending theme. Of course, they'd still have to extend it by about 15 more seconds, but with some editing...

But really, the opening song is not that high on my worries list, though it is still a priority. What I'm worried about is whether or not we'll get endings 2-4. I don't think Toei sends out creditless versions of those. With FUNi's removal of alternate video tracks, is anybody else worried about this?

... Cuz I am.

Guess we'll find out next week when people start getting their pre-order copies.

I know. But I would make a million dollar ice capade if FUNi were to include the Canadian Dub(s) on some release.

Also, I believe Blue Water's DAN DAN was far from an accurate translation... I distinctly remember searching for DragonBalls, yet I don't have the slightest memory of that in the Japanese version...
