Defective Medicom Goku Figure...

Post by Oldphan » Tue Dec 02, 2008 11:39 pm

Hello everyone. This came to my attention on http://www.dragonballtoys.com , by Minigt, who is also a member here... I've since posted up a short article about it on Dragonballtoys.com, (Which you can check out here: http://www.dragonballtoys.com/archives/000618.php ) Just look at these photos below... THIS is what is happening to many people's extremely expensive Medicom Goku figures... It appears that Medicom seriously skimped on the materials for the rubber neck and holder pieces on Goku, and now those parts are literally falling apart! Please, please, please check your Medicom Goku figures, as this deterioration process may already be starting to happen to yours!

To many people from to many parts of the world have been reporting the same problems, so this is not believed to be caused by climate - this is a factory defect, and Medicom must be made aware of it. People pay way to much for there figures to have to put up with these kinds of quality issues:

Medicom is expected to also release a Piccolo and Gohan figure next year... Both of which look fantastic in photos... This is an unfortunate turn of events for a great series of Dragonball toys, and I only hope that Medicom will find a way of rectifying this, and that the Piccolo and Gohan will not have the same problems.

All the best,
Oldphan

Thanks for the warning Oldphan! Might not be a collector myself, but this certainly is... interesting... news.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Woah, desert dried skin :?. That's quite unfortunate. I mean, it looked so smexy in the figures only for it to show some climate damage after a while... and they ain't cheap, either, right?

For the ridiculous price they were asking for these, faults like this are inexcusable.

Agreed. The way I am with things I collect, if this happened to a figurine I had spent a fortune on, I would be devestated.

Nope, definitely not cheap. I believe that Sideshow Collectibles was the US distributor for these and they had them listed at $150.

Oh man, I was expecting them to be expensive, but not that much.

I didn't think of it before, but is the one?-

Guess I should be happy I didn't drop 150 on this when I really wanted to. It's shame because it looks like such an awesome figure.

I had a friend that told me they actually didn't look as good as they do in the picture.

This was posted at the right time, since Madman put it on special for $100 Aus last night (about $65 US). I might have had to have bought it. I was still a little tempted, to be honest).

I have been emailing Medicom for over a week and had no response. I think they are ignoring this. There is talk of getting a petition together on another forum and if it happens, I will let you know.
Oh yeah, Madman.com.au have sold out.

Wow, that, like, totally sucks, dude...

Hybrid Goku is still the one for me, though. ;)

This is taken directly from a post on another forum:

just read on toyworld that medicom have responded to the hong kong customers on Goku's cracked chest. Medi is giving them (HK collectors) chest piece to replace the cracked pieces thru the HK official importers.

I wonder what are the chance for US collector getting replacement facing this problem? would SSC be the one sending out replacement parts? Also, there is still the concern on the quality of the replacement, if its the same as the original, the chance of it cracking is pretty high. But the fact that medi actually responded is a good sign. Afterall, there are three more figures already announced in the DBZ line, probably more in the works. If this problem is not solved fast and before the upcoming figures shipped then this Line might die before we see more figure announcement.

Its all here:

http://www.toy-world.com.hk/forum/vi...extra=page%3D1

I just hope this wont stop medicom releasing more of this line.
