New Dragonball AF comic?!

Post by Eison » Tue Dec 09, 2008 1:44 pm

I found this site:
http://dibujaclm.foroactivo.com/dragon- ... et-t97.htm
And it has a comic that looks good but I can't read it so can maybe someone tell where the story is about?
Or translate it, or is there already a translated version?

Too bad it's not in English. Might be an interesting read.

By the way, I love your avatar! Where is that from?

It's from Final Bout's animated intro.

Can anyone here translate it? It would be a good addition to the other manga threads that are on here.
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

I actually like the art of this one more than Toyble's. Perhaps not as Toriyama-esque, but it's very clean and crisp.

Can't anybody these days be original? How in the world did so many fan fics end up being titled AF? Whoever it was that created the original AF so long ago must feel proud to have created a title that's seemingly become about as popular as GT. lol

Looks like this one has quite a bit of tracing, too. It's always fun to play "Spot the reference" with these. :P

Yeah I agree, DBM looks more like Buu Saga Toriyama than his earlier and later work, Toyble’s illustrations looks more in line with the Movies (post Movie #8 ) and Dragonball GT. This is a problem for me because I love Toriyama’s Buu stuff and the post Movie #8 and GT art. Nevertheless, if I had to choose I would go with the good GT stuff or better yet "The Path to Ultimate Strength" or the GT Special.

Well that was the first thing that gave fans hope for something new and plus you already have the basic plot laid out for you. I remember reading tons of so-called episode synopses and full scripts online years ago. The original creators of the idea did all the hard work and they did all the advertisement. If anyone wants people to view their fan manga all they would have to do is use something that is already a household name.

Addendum:

For some reason I could not see all the pages at first but now I can see them in their entirety.

This is totally ridiculous, the Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta was cool (something I wish happened in Toriyama’s manga) but how in the world do you come up with a Super Saiyan 3 Son Goten and on top of that he beats Vegeta as a Super Saiyan 3.

Got to the part with the Super Saiyan 3s, realized one was Goten, hit the little red X in the upper right corner. Next.

Clean artwork, storyline seems to be a bust.

Here's an idea: Goten realized he needed to train and...GASP, started to. Considering his fusing with Trunks he may have an understanding of how SSj3 works.

I think we've got a few people here who speak Spanish so maybe they can give us a translation...

I know a little spanish, and with the help of a few translators (used sparingly) I could give a rough translation. Of course, if one of the native speakers (Bardock the Mexican) wishes to, it'd be better fromone of them than me.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
And went from a weak SSJ1 to an SSJ3 stronger than Vegeta at SSJ3. Bullshit.

We don't know how much time has passed. At the minimum Vegeta is fifty-seven. Being the son of Son--and now seemingly a student of Vegeta--Goten might have actually begun to dig into his hidden potential.

My thoughts exactly. Maybe if Goten and Trunks continuously trained through out their lives like their fathers, I would gave Goten the benefit of the doubt. But during GT he was too busy macing or acting like completely pillock.

As for the new AF comic, I'll wait until there's a decent English translation out before harshly criticize the comic and the artist's obvious hard effort into making it, because that's just what I love to do. I kid...Somewhat.

Yeah, because the next generation never surpasses the last in Dragon Ball.

Remember, the halflings seem to gain strength faster than full blooded Saiyajin if they put their mind to it. They're just too lazy in peace time usually. (Edit: And admittedly it is a stretch that Goten would suddenly take training so seriously, based on what we've seen of his character).

But yeah, it does seem unlikely that both of them would reach SSJ3 so easily. It took Goku years. I suppose if it's after GT then Vegeta might be able to, since he'd already gone SSJ4...dunno if that would help since they're so different, but whatever.

I recognize the panels where Vegeta is shown losing and sent flying, did he copy that from some panels when Kid Buu's owning him in the last DB volume? Only difference is that he's not SSJ and the costume being different.

Yeah, like others have said, Super Saiyan 3 Goten? I can understand, and welcome, a SSJ3 Vegeta, but why Goten? Also, wouldn't it make more sense for Vegeta to be training Trunks?

Even if there could be logic behind it - Goten training a lot post-GT, reaching SSJ3 and surpassing Vegeta - it should be explained, plausibly, in either a flashback sequence or a brief narrative. But even so, it's just kinda... there. He's just saying 'oh look we have two new SSJ3 and Goten is somehow stronger even when he spent all of GT fucking around while Vegeta, as always, took training seriously'. I might buy some of the logic if it were explained instead of just being sorta thrown in there.

Still, I love the artwork, even if some portions seem to be copied/traced from the official source. As I see it, more of it seems to be original than seems to be ripped off, so I won't be so quick to judge the artwork. The story...eeeeh, I speak enough Spanish to have gotten the gist of it, but if someone goes about translating it I may give it another chance, otherwise, the story just seems like another failed attempt.

Maybe it's just because I think there's more potential in storylines that follow the end of DBZ instead of GT (like DBM), but eh...seems too far-fetched to me at the moment.
