Nobody Working on LittleBigPlanet Level?

Post by Drabaz » Tue Jan 20, 2009 5:42 am

Last time I posted a topic about a LBP level nobody responded. Has anybody who has the game played a good Dragonball level or thinking about making one? I've still been working on my level since I got the game. I don't always have a lot of time to sit down for a few hours and edit, but over the past few months, this is what I've created:

Muscle Tower:

Red Ribbon Gaurds, Nyoi-bo, and Sgt. Mettalica
Image Image
These are two of those bear like Red Ribbon Gaurds. The thing their holding are obviously guns that will shoot bullets made of fire. They'll be made of fire because if they wern't then they wouldn't hurt you. Next to them is Nyoi-bo. Nyoi-bo will be going up and down, so you have to grab it to get inside Muscle Tower.

Sgt. Mettalica, Buyon, and Marusaki
Image Image
Once inside, you meet Sgt. Mettalica. His arms will be made of lightning and will be flayling up and down. To get past him you have to hop on top of the box and jump on all 3 of his bubbles. One on each arm and one on top of his head. Then you come accross Buyon. (That pink blob that shoots out lasers and gets killed when Goku punches a hole in the wall and freezes him to a hundred peices) Here General White will tell Buyon to kill you. So Buyon will fire "lasers" (sticks with lighting on them) from his antenas. All you have to do is get in a safe place where the lasers won't hit you and then place a sticker of a cold mountain on him. He will then explode, letting you procede. It's kind of a cheap way of killing him but I also think it would be kind of funny to kill him that way. People who don't remember Buyon will probably think it was stupid, but people who do remember will hopefully chuckle at the fact.

The next level will be just a meaningless gaurd. Unless anybody else has an idea. The level after that will be the Ninja Marusaki stage. He introduces himself and then starts throwing 3 random ninja stars at the ground. You have to dodge the stars and get to the next platform. On this platform I layed a green layer on the floor to represent grass. I also put a little pond with a bamboo stick sticking out. When you get near the bamboo stick, a speach bubble that says,"..." will apear. If you remember, Marusaki hides in the pond this way and uses the bamboo stick to breathe. Jump over the pond because it is lightningafied! Next, as you go up the stairs and think you're safe, out of the bushes comes a sword that will most likely hit and kill you. I used the fact that Marusaki used clones in this platform. One on the ceiling, one in the pond, and a surprise one in the bushes. Then the top of Muscle Tower will be a fight with General White. I'm in desperate need of ideas for this fight! It's empty at the top right now!

Underwater Pirate Cave:
This is my favorite part so far. I definitely feel I improved on my editing and tools skills here compared to the Muscle Tower.

Cave, Traps, and Pirate Robot
Image Image
In this next stage is a huge lake(not pictured) in which you discover a cave at the right of the lake. The cave takes you to a spot where there is air. I will use the jet pack tool to simulate swimming. Half way there the regular cave turns into a hallway. As you walk, or more preferable run through this, knifes will be falling from the sky. This is suposed to simulate the part in Dragonball where there are buttons on every square inch of the ground and each one activates an arrow. After you pass that and fall to the hallway bellow, it's just a regular hallway from there. Seems boring but that's how it was in DB.

Then as you fall to the next room, you see the Robot Pirate has already demolished the room around him. I can't think of a cool way to kill him, so i just put a button at the other side of the room on top of the building and a conviniently place set of bombs. To get to the other side, you could either try to pass from the ground or jump over him. I made it pretty impossible to run from the ground because his right machine gun arm constantly shoots fire bullets at your path. So the best course of action would be to jump over him. Get on the demolished platform and then try to jump to the other platform while timing your jump so you don't get hit by his sword that's going back and forth in the air. Hit the button and the platform holding the bombs will break and fall. Then another door opens up on the right that takes you to a hallway and then underwater.

Sword Statue and close up of Pirate Robot
Image Image
As you emerge from the water you end up where the 12 armed statue is. I don't know if I should have it attack or if I should simulate that the events in DB already happend and the statue is deactivated. What do you guys think? Then the next opening of water is very small. It will be where the next Dragonball is located. Just like in the manga/anime.

Oh yea! The Dragonballs! The Dragonballs will be stickers you have to collect through out the whole level. Then either at the end of the level or at the beginning of the Piccolo Daimao arc you will place all 7 stickers you collected in the designated spots to activate/summon Shenlong. I was thinking to have Shenlong summoned at the beginning of the Piccolo Daimao arc, only to be killed by him immediately. I feel that's better than having him at the very end saying Congratulations in a corny/unoriginal way.

Anyways, after you get that Dragonball, your suposed to head back to the room where the Pirate Robot was. Once you get there, there will be a submarine waiting in the water which will take you through a path that leads you to the lake again. I havn't created this part yet.

Son Goku
Image
This is the Goku I'm going to use to kill Piccolo Daimao. He will be firing his Kamehameha with his left hand and punching with his right. I still need to put some finishing touches on him, but for the most part I think it came out well.

Oozaru Vegeta strangling Goku
Image
This one is pretty much what it says it is :) On the other side of the mountain will be his tail that you have to cut.

Cell's Tournament Ring, Goku, and Mr. Satan
Image
:D Let's call this Cell's Tournament Ring 1.0. This was the first thing I made and will be heavily revised. But I think I might keep the idea the same. This stage is more of what it looked like in the anime when they showed a reinactment of the Cell fight at the Tenkaichi Budokai. Theres a button on the ring that sets off explosives underneath Goku. Then as you continue to walk up to Mr. Satan, he says somthing along the lines of, "I told you they used tricks! They won't work on me! Hahahahaha...."

And of course some stuff for Daizenshuu EX
Image Image

Well that's all for now. I took all these pictures in the games edit mode since I can fly freely and take pictures of everything. Since it's in edit mode, there's a lot of things you see that won't be seen in play mode. Such as wires, mouths, cameras, and emitters. Please, if anybody has any ideas or suggestions for anything, let me know.

Wow, my brother owns the game, but I didn't realize it was possible to put this much detail into a custom level. Pretty awesome.

I'm really impressed, you put a lot of thought and care into it.

For the first time I'm actually interested in LBP, usually I just view it like a diet version of Garry's mod for HL2.

*Tear* I don't have LBP or a PS3. I feel like a little kid who wasn't invited to the best birthday party ever. And the parting gifts where Dragonballs.

Don't feel bad. We (my brother and I) have a PS3, but it barely has any games to play anyway. It's like being invited to the party only to find..it...sucks. Or something.

Really couldn't think of a...thing...there...

But still...you get Kingdom Hearts III...man I hope that, by some miracle, it'll be multi-platform...

I'll be surprised if it isn't. So far with the PS3 most of the games have either been bad or are just inferior versions of games available on other consoles. Sonic Unleashed for instance is just the 360 version with more frame-rate issues and other bugs.

Apart from Little Big Planet, does the PS3 really have anything unique going for it? Even the next Final Fantasy game is meant to be multi-platform I think.

Those levels look amazing! Too bad I don't own a PS3. Kudos on some awesome designs though.

not to get off topic but, MGS4 is amazingpants!(and FFXIII is going to be multiplat but theres another story for XIII exclusive to the PS3). Also IMO burst limit is more comfortable on the PS3 seeing as how most of the other DBZ titles were on the PS2 and the controls are simalure.

back on topic though....those look really sweet, If I find them I will be sure to heart them...

Sorry, but I needed to do that.

Multiplat = multi-platform I assumed.

Edit: But yeah, MGS4 was pretty good if you can get past the ridiculous plot and the hours of cutscenes.

As far as RPGs go, I'll take Mass Effect over Final Fantasy ANY day.

Still, LBP is INSANELY tempting, and looks just so charming. Problem is, I don't personally own the console. My father has one, but I don't really live with him/spend much time at his place. =p

Thanks everybody! I really did work hard on this. I've searched for DBZ levels on LBP but was a bit dissapointed at how much effort seemed to be put in them. That's why I'm taking my time on this and working at my own pace. I encourage everybody who has LBP to try and edit somthing. All it takes is patience.

I'm sorry for all those that don't have this game or a PS3. It's a really fun game, especially with more people. If you have a PS3 then it's a definite purchase. But I'm not saying you should go buy a PS3 just for this game.....or am I?

I would still love to hear some ideas for boss levels or anything like that :P And yes Mike, I will definitely invite you to my level next time I see you're online.

You could make a level off of each saga and the bosses could be Vegeta, Frieza, Cell and Buu. Also, what might be a cool idea is if you set up a race and the rockets looked similar to the Flying Nimbus. Oh, yeah I haven't gone in depth with the creation mode but is there a way to make the orb(point things) look like dragonballs? That would be a cool touch.

Regarding the Kinto-Un, I don't think I'll end up using it for racing purposes. Only because when there are races involving cars or anything with rockets on them, people tend to either get too far ahead of another player and end up killing the other player, or sombody never even gets on his/her car and ends up being left behind. Instead what I might do is have a "fork in the road" where you have to make a decision whether to for example, let an enemy live or die. If you choose to let him live, you eventually go through a path that takes you to Kinto-Un and you'll ride him to your next destination. If you let the enemy die, you'll go through a different path that takes you to a similar Kinto-Un, except when you try to jump on it, Kinto-Un will disolve underneath you. Forcing you to take a different route to your next destination.
