Goku vs. Rild [Fandub]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlL1j9TTzl4
I decided to dub this scene, 'cause it's a pretty good, Pre-major fight scene. Also, I wanted to show what an ACCURATE GT DUB, could look like. I ripped the music and Sound Effects from my Season 1 Set, but not all of it is completely audible unfortunately.
The script is based off the Japanese version, the subs, done by Daimao.
What do you guys think?

Well, I may as well redub this than. I can always go and Redub Goku's Power-up, I don't know why I always hold back on it. What other characters does Rild sound like? If I know what your talking about, I could go and give him a different voice.Captain Awesome wrote:Yeah, if you're going to do a screaming scene, it's probably best to actually scream, those hushed little "Raaahs" never sound convincing.
I'm not a fan of your Rildo voice, only because you use it for all of your videos, my advice, mix things up a little.

I'm not saying the voice is totally unfitting, it's just that it's the same voice you've used in nearly all of your videos, I just thought it would be interesting to see you take the character a different direction.SSJ4 Furanki wrote: What other characters does Rild sound like? Ah, okay. When I redub, if I do, and hopefully get better (not totally low-quality) sounding BGM and SFX, I'll attempt a different voice for Rild.Captain Awesome wrote:I'm not saying the voice is totally unfitting, it's just that it's the same voice you've used in nearly all of your videos, I just thought it would be interesting to see you take the character a different direction.SSJ4 Furanki wrote: What other characters does Rild sound like? it was ok, you need to work more on the lip sync though it seemed a bit off and tbh goku's voice needs a bit of work, he felt to young. Otherwise though good job keep it up and I cant wait to see the next one.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?
To be honest, I don't think your voice fits Goku at all. I'm trying to find a way to word this without coming off like an asshole, but whenever I hear Masako Nozawa or Stephanie Nadolny, I hear the voice of Goku. Their delivery is convincing. Their voices fit, despite the fact that both of them have completely different voices for the same character. When Nadolny giggles and says something silly, I don't hear Nadolny complaining about how hungry she is or whatever. I hear Goku. When I hear Nozawa scream, the intensity I get from the scene isn't coming from Nozawa. To me it's coming from Goku.
With you, the only vibe I get is "fan dub". I know it's a fandub, but I just don't hear Goku speaking. I hear you speaking while Goku's mouth moves silently. MasakoX's Goku/Gohan is nearly flawless. It sounds like Goku speaking when he delivers those lines. When you do it, it sounds like you are reading a script while trying to impersonate a Digimon character. And when you did the scream, it sounded like you didn't want your parents in the other room to hear or something. And the fact that it clearly sounds like you are talking into a mic doesn't help at all.
Sorry to come off harsh, but I wouldn't say it if I didn't really truly believe it. That's why in your other thread, I joked about having MasokoX come and voice Goku in your GT Abridged series. Frankly, I don't think you're that good.
As for your narrator, I don't know if it's you or not, but the narrator sounds like he's bored and wants to go home. And General "Rild"? Isn't the Japanese name for this character "Ruudo", making Funimation's "Rildo" more accurate to the original that "Rild"? I thought I'd bring that up, since an accurate GT script is something you're trying to accomplish with your dub. I've got to say though, I thought your Rildo sounded a lot like Blue Water's General Rildo (I'm sorry, General Locke). I never really liked Blue Water's Rildo voice, but I never really thought it was that terrible either. By the way, at one point, Goku says "You guys again" when his mouth is clearly not moving. I know all dubs do this at one point or another (even the original Japanese version), but in this scene it was so painfully obvious that I had to go back and watch it again. I'm not nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking, but rather pointing out things you may want to consider for your next dubbed scene or even if you decide to redub this one

I understand and you have true points, you didn't give off an "asshole" vibe. What kinda voice should I use for (Kid) Goku. I don't know why this clip came out so bad, I'm not usually that bad at VA'ing. Maybe I'm not fit for a kid's voice AT ALL.Joey Batz wrote:To be honest, I don't think your voice fits Goku at all. Well...you're 15, and you have a pretty deep voice, so you shouldn't be so hard on yourself that you can't do a "legit" kids voice, about 95% of men can't do it, let alone actually raising the pitch of their voice without sounding like a total moron. And it sounds like you're voice ain't' going to get any lower, yet you sound more convincing than everyone I know, so that's a plus.SSJ4 Furanki wrote:I understand and you have true points, you didn't give off an "asshole" vibe. Thanks. But yeah, you do have a point, not many mean can get that high. At first I thought, I sounded kinda dumb or too high for Kid Goku, but glad you were still able to like it.DBHighDefinition wrote:Well...you're 15, and you have a pretty deep voice, so you shouldn't be so hard on yourself that you can't do a "legit" kids voice, about 95% of men can't do it, let alone actually raising the pitch of their voice without sounding like a total moron.
