Shouldn't we do something about those downtimes?

Post by Dr. Casey » Sun Feb 01, 2009 1:38 pm

Daizenshuu being down for the final seven or eight days of each month is quite the inconvenience.

Why don't we all agree to curb our time here a bit so as to not drain that much bandwidth? If we all spend a little less time on Daizenshuu, we'll be able to enjoy the boards every day of the month.

A.Wrong section
B.It's usually just down for a week or two tops. I really don't think it's a big deal.

Mike's working on it. He's looking into moving the entire thing as-is to a bigger, better server.

Maybe somebody should create Daizenshuu EX 2 on, like, Proboards or something.

Once a few specific backup related files are 'found' the whole thing will be on my server with the podcasts.

*Cheers*

That's so awesome! The week-long downtime was saddening.
On hiatus.

That nice to hear.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Does this also mean that Mike will finally be able to make the forum accessible as a subdomain of daizex.com? http://forums.daizex.com/ would make this board significantly easier to access without having to set a bookmark, I think.

Glad to see some solid hosting is set up, though. :)

"A week or two" every month isn't a big deal to you? Hm. Interesting.

In any event, is there any possibility of upgrading the monthly bandwidth just slightly in order to compensate for that last seven days? I'd imagine the forums are frequented more than the main site... Wouldn't you want that aspect to be available at ALL times? Certainly seems logical to me. Then again, some people think having it down for half of the month isn't a big deal so...... Who am I to speak up, eh?

Mike doesn't own the server it's on and it's sometimes difficult to get ahold of the guy who is letting Mike use his space. So, moving it to godofchaos' server would be a much better idea.

No it isn't, I can go without discussing a cartoon for a week every month.

In other words, the friendships you've forged on Daizenshuu mean nothing to you.

Way to take something out of context and attack someone. If you CAN'T go a week without discussing a cartoon, perhaps you're the one who needs to re-evaluate things.

Yeah... I'm sure there's other stuff to do when it's down.

B, this is the 60th post I've made in all my time here. What makes you think I'm dependent on Daizenshuu?

And you're right, Kendamu. I'll stop.

You know, if there were more girls on Daizenshuu, I bet Kaboom would have a ton of secret admirers.

My server at work isn't very mIRC-friendly and I spend most of my time there, but when I am home I tend to stop by the Daienshuu EX chat. That usually works for me if I can't find any of my friends from DaizEX on AIM or something.
