Sorry if there's already a thread like this, in that case you can delete this.
I was wondering which background music score (BGM) is more popular, Shunsuke Kikuchi or Bruce Faulconer's. Also, we can add Mark Menza's DBZ Uncut/Remastered's Season 1/2 USA Score, Nathan Johnson's DBZ Movies 1-3 score, and Shuki Levy's Ocean Dub score.
To find out this information, please leave a post telling me which BGM score you prefer. Thanks.

I'm torn between the two... for character themes, Faulconer wins hands down IMO, but for actual "Background Music" then the Japanese music is my preference.

Shunsuke Kikuchi, I do not care for Bruce's music at all. That's all I'm going to say about that for now.

Yeah Rob, I feel that Bruce Faulconer may fit DBZ more, but Shunsuke Kikuchi's fits DB more and is overall better to listen to by itself (like in the CD Collection).

For me it is definetely the Japanese BGM. The only American Dragonball tracks that I like are:
-SSj3 Goku/Gogeta them from DBZ movie 12 (Faulcner)
-DBZ season set menu theme (I think Tendril is the name of the band)
-FUNimation's Dan-Dan dub (Vic Mignogna)
-Atari's Dragonball Z Sparking Opening (Atari)
That's all I can think of now. I have .mp3's of most of these, so if you want them just hit me up with a PM.

I think most people will already know my answer...
Reason number 1
Reason number 2
Reason number... wait, what number am I on?
Ah, screw it
Actually, in the interest of equal time, I do like a few of Faulconer's compositions. I'll try to name as many as I can think of (in no particular order):
The Saga Continues
Vegeta - Super Saiyan
The Dragon Theme
Goku's Spirit Bomb
Pikkon's Theme
Electronic Circus (a.k.a. Syko the Killer Clown) - which I know doesn't fit the scenes it plays in, but it makes me laugh my head off every time it pops up, because it's just so random and A.D.H.D.
Ginyu Transformation (which everyone loves anyway... what this song is to American dub fans is what the Giygas Theme is to EarthBound fans)
SSJ Transformation (you just know Faulconer got the "J" from his fans' emails)
Long Flashback
Gohan Powers Up
Fr(e)eza Begs
Kam(i)'s Tale
Cell Returns
Cell Kills Man
And also the music when Trunks uses his Burning Attack on Freeza, but I forgot the name of that tune.
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

Thanks man for starting on GT. My answer is like kenisu's, the Japanese BGM for the win. I also like some of Bruce Faulconer's (actually it's Mike Smith and Scott Morgan's) compositions, but I am pretty much for the original Japanese, since that's what Mexico got.

Actually the J came from me, and I got it from sites like PlanetNamek.com.
btw thanks! you named a few I was heavily involved in

Wait... what? You were involved in composing the FUNi score? Whoa, color me ignorant! So it wasn't just Bruce Faulconer, it was a joint effort? (Suddenly I feel hugely self-conscious... I get the feeling I'm the last to realize this.)

XD Well I never say I "composed" anything, but I was an arranger, performer, editor, etc.

Hm go figure I actually kind of thought that track was fairly catchy. Reminded me of Donkey Kong Country 2's lava level music (which was awesome.)

Did you have anything to do with the Perfect Cell theme? That's one of the only good things about the Cell Games arc, IMO.
Pikkon's theme was awesome though. I liked the Christmas version you did on YouTube.

Nope, that's one I had no part in actually.

I love Bruce Falcouner's score for the dub. The Japanese music never did much for me. I like very few tracks of the Japanese score, wheras I sometimes have too many I like with Dub Music.

I'm curious to hear what some of your favorite American (and/or Japanese) BGM pieces are? And I think it's great that people like you and Mr. Simmons come over to places like this every once in a while, so thanks!
And just out of curiosity, do you live in Redmond, Washington?

The original score. Though few dub Gohan songs stand out.

Hmm wow, there's qu
ite a few I like ^^ I'll stick to ones I had no part in arranging (though I played guitar for Heroic Trunks)
16 Rips Off Cell's Tail
16 Theme
Heroic Trunks
Trunks Appears
Piccolo and 17 Talk
Hyperbolic Time Chamber
Mysterious Person (my fav one from after I left)
Ginyu Transformation (Kudos to Bruce on this one)
Kame's Tale (1st half)
Frieza Revival
Cell Yells (2nd half)
Piccolo Angry
Sadness (unreleased)
Vegeta Knows His Son
Super Namek
UnderWater
And ones I admit weren't favorites before but all the fan attention made me listen more and change my mind:
Vegeta Super Saiyan (I dunno I guess my initial reaction was the piano part wasn't "tough" enough for Vegeta...and that blinded me to it)
SSJ3 Power Up (actualy I didn't even know this one bc it was after I left)
Gohan Angers (I think I just hadn't heard these enough, they were done right before I left)

How can you dislike "SSJ3 Power Up?" I love that track. Its so epic and it fits so well.
I like "Hyperbolic Time Chamber" too. And "King Kai's Planet." The themes for places are usually pretty good.
Hey, what's the name of that one track where Goku is trying to catch bubbles? It also plays while Gohan is flying Bulma, Yajirobe, and baby Trunks to capsule corp. It has kind of a funky bass line.

Actually I like SSJ3 Power up now, though maybe not as much as most people. To me it's a bit on the plastic cheesy side of things haha. Did you know its based off the main theme for the show?
As far as the Baby Trunks track goes I think I know the clip you are talking about but I can't remember what it was named. There's another one that I worked on called "Yajirobe vs Baby Trunks", but that ones isn't released.

Yeah, I don't think this track was released because I listened to the soundtrack but I couldn't find it. I really like that bass line though. I'm not sure why. It was the first thing I noticed because I play bass guitar.
