K-11 is the Kanzenshuu catalogue number assigned to an unreleased piece of background music (BGM) composed by Shunsuke Kikuchi for the Dragon Ball anime in 1986. The piece debuted in Dragon Ball Episode 1 which was broadcast on 26 February 1986.

Overview

K-11 is a 16-bar piece in F Major featuring a bassoon melody.

Usage and Variations

Compositional Analysis

K-11's harmony alternates between the tonic F major and E-flat major (-VII); the bassoon melody is in lydian mode when the harmony changes to E-flat. After the 4-bar introduction of the melody, the bassoon does call and response with the clarinet for four more bars before the melody is repeated. In the final four bars, the clarinet takes up the melody for two bars and the bassoon takes an accompaniment role; the penultimate bar is the sustained final note, and the final bar is mostly reverb, probably written as a rest.

Identification

K-11 is given the title "Trouncing Happy" on kenisu's Magicant,[1] the most common source for fan titles of Kikuchi's compositions.
