C4 is the official catalogue number of a piece of background music (BGM) arranged by Shunsuke Kikuchi for the Dragon Ball anime in 1986. The piece debuted in Dragon Ball Episode 1 which was broadcast on 26 February 1986.

Overview

C4 is an arrangement of "Mystical Adventure!", the Dragon Ball opening theme composed by Takeshi Ike. The full composition is part e of the suite entitled "Son Goku's Counterattack", which is track #23 on disc #2 of the Daizenshuu.

C4 is given the title "Eyecatcher 'B'" on The Suburbs of kenisu's Magicant, the most common source for fan titles of Kikuchi's compositions. The piece was assigned the Kanzenshuu catalogue number of K-12 based on its placement in the series (i.e., debuting before C2B-2 even though it is usually the other way around).

C4 is typically used for Eyecatch B, the after-break eyecatch. There are only two exceptions:

1. In episode 1, C4 is used for Eyecatch 1A and C2B-2 is used for Eyecatch 1B.
2. In episode 2, C4 is used for both eyecatches and C2B-2 is omitted.

In Eyecatch 1B, Oolong spins the parasol while Goku tosses the Dragon Balls onto it. In Eyecatch 2B, Goku pokes the Turtle Hermit with his Nyoi-bō.

Composition

C4 is an instrumental arrangement of the first phrase of "Mystical Adventure!": つかもうぜ！ (tsu-ka-mo-u ze!), or "Find the Dragon Balls!" in the English adaptation, followed by a cymbal struck with a soft mallet.
