C2B-2 is the official catalogue number of a piece of background music (BGM) composed by Shunsuke Kikuchi for the Dragon Ball anime in 1986. The piece debuted in Dragon Ball Episode 1 which was broadcast on 26 February 1986.

Overview

C2B-2 is an arrangement of "Mystical Adventure!", the Dragon Ball opening theme composed by Takeshi Ike. The full composition is part e of the suite entitled "Master Karin of Karin Tower", which is track #19 on both the Ongakushū record and disc #2 of the Daizenshuu.

At the end, we have included C2B-2, which is the eyecatch music from the end of the A-part.
Dragon Ball & Dragon Ball Z Daizenshuu

C2B-2 is given the title "Eyecatcher 'A'" on The Suburbs of kenisu's Magicant,[1] the most common source for fan titles of Kikuchi's compositions. The piece was assigned the Kanzenshuu catalogue number of K-13 based on its placement in the series (i.e., after C4 even though it is usually the other way around).

Usage and Variations

For further information, see Dragon Ball Music.

C2B-2 is typically used for Eyecatch A, the pre-break eyecatch. There are only two exceptions:

  1. In episode 1, C2B-2 is used for Eyecatch B and C4 is used for Eyecatch A.
  2. In episode 2, C2B-2 is omitted; C4 is used for both eyecatches.

In Eyecatch 1A, Goku spins the parasol while Oolong tosses the Dragon Balls onto it. In Eyecatch 2A, Goku strikes the Turtle Hermit's cane with his Nyoi-bō.

Compositional Analysis

C4 is an instrumental arrangement of the first line of "Mystical Adventure!": つかもうぜ!DRAGON BALL (tsu-ka-mo-u ze! do-ra-gon bo-o-ru), or "Find the Dragon Balls! Look out for them all!" in the English adaptation.
