Additional Franchise Video Games
|
|
Beyond the wealth of Dragon Ball video games, several of Akira Toriyama's other works have received video game adaptations. Games based on Dr. Slump date back to the Japanese microcomputer era of the early 1980s, with an occasional dip into modern consoles and handhelds as nostalgia ebbed and flowed. Go! Go! Ackman notably received four video games — three on the Super Famicom, and one on the Game Boy — contemporary with and shortly after its original serialization in V-Jump. Finally, Sand Land received a video game adaptation in conjunction with its theatrical film in 2024.
Note that all of these games are dedicated to their specific franchise; however, characters from these series (Dr. Slump in particular) may make appearances either in Dragon Ball video games and/or overall Jump-branded crossover games.
Dr. Slump
In addition to several electronic handheld games, Dr. Slump received puzzle and platformer-type games on Japanese microcomputers like the MZ-700 and Sharp X1. In conjunction with its 1997 reboot, a PlayStation game was also released. Finally, a Nintendo DS game was released in 2008, marking the last major Dr. Slump video game release.

Go! Go! Ackman
In conjunction with its original manga, and alongside several supplemental manga continuations (all in Shueisha's monthly V-Jump magazine), Go! Go! Ackman received three action games on Nintendo's Super Famicom, as well as one puzzle/action game on Nintendo's Game Boy. All four games were released exclusively in Japan by Banpresto.

Notes
- ↑ The overall package of a game, as seen on its cover, is called "MAZELAND"... which contains two games that can be selected from its title screen: the game specified for children called めいろやしき (or roughly "Maze Mansion") which is the one featuring Dr. Slump characters, and the eponymous "MAZE LAND" aimed at adults (including some striptease elements).
- ↑ Stylized as "The PENGUIN VILLAGE" on the game's title screen.
- ↑ The box for this game features "Dr. Slump" as a sort of lower sub-title underneath the main アラレのJump up title, while the actual title screen for the game forgoes the Dr. Slump direct branding and instead includes the English word "GAME" after the all-caps "ARALE NO JUMP UP" title.
