Re: Everything Dragon Ball Super Did Right!
The problem is DBS lacks any tension for entire series because of that. You know everything will be ok in the end, nothing in DBS can surprise you or make you sad when any character in show dies. They can't take GT's route and just premamently kill characters like Buu or Piccolo without overwriting...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
New Manga Trailer (are those gonna be a monthly occurence now too?! ) https://twitter.com/DbsHype/status/1349997242430615559 Bojack is pseudo-canon now with that new guy and his team. Interesting start to the arc so far. I wonder what the explanation will be for why these guys are a threat ...

Re: Everything Dragon Ball Super Did Right!
-I might be one of the few fans who was glad of the time period Toriyama chose. I always prefer a story be left alone when it ends so I'll take a midquel than a full-fledged sequel that changes the ending. I guess it gives some comfort that whatever happens it'll revert back to the status quo of the...

Re: Everything Wrong with Dragon Ball Super
No, what's truly dispiriting is how these complaint threads always complain about things that were already in the original Dragon Ball series. Endless transformations -> DBZ has like 10+ forms across its main characters. Power creep making Saiyan forms useless -> Already started in the Androids arc...

Re: Everything Wrong with Dragon Ball Super
The writers of Super don't need to change anything. Above all else, a story is meant to entertain people. It's not meant to be logical, it's meant to be entertaining. Like it or hate it, the story of Dragon Ball Super was clearly entertaining to the vast majority of people: To be honest, I'm glad t...

Re: Everything Wrong with Dragon Ball Super
Like, just admit it, you armchair writers wouldn't be able to write a successful and gripping story like Super's. Well I don't think any of us are professional writers. If a fan gives criticism of a series they like, generally it's because they think it could be handled better maybe based on other ...

Re: Everything Wrong with Dragon Ball Super
1. The story feels like it was written by fanfic writers given the Toriyama Seal of Approval (because it is drawn by a fanfic creator). Well there are only so many possibilities out there that haven't been done already in the original manga, movies, and video games. If you've read fanwork then you'...

Re: Dub-fans, was there an adjustment period for you when Goku started to be portrayed correctly in DBS?
Goku giving Moro a senzu bean wasn't out of any naive desire to spare him or a reckless disregard for the situation, though. Goku already expected Moro to immediately go back on his word and attack him - he wanted to illustrate just how spineless he really was and maybe get through to him in the pr...

Re: Dub-fans, was there an adjustment period for you when Goku started to be portrayed correctly in DBS?
I got it but I would argue what he did was worse in that arc. At least when he put his lust for battle before all else he dealt with the issue himself. Goku did make sure to secure the Dragon Radar before leaving Earth. He initially intended to deal with the threat because he said him and Vegeta we...

Re: Who are the 10 most popular characters in the franchise?
We'd need to wait few more years for such list to be a bit more accurate. It would be interesting to see how these polls change in a few years and which characters stand the test of time. I'm not saying that DBS's antagonists aren't popular and I still consider Beerus one of my favorites but there ...

Re: Dub-fans, was there an adjustment period for you when Goku started to be portrayed correctly in DBS?
That whole arc was a mess. That wasn't the greater good and it shows no growth. The idea that Goku wanted the living to deal with the problem is like a parent loading their kid up with debt, not helping out on the basis of saying "Kids have to learn to make their own way". He's partial responsible ...

Re: Dub-fans, was there an adjustment period for you when Goku started to be portrayed correctly in DBS?
How was he more mature? He still puts his love of battle above the fate of the universe and if you don't see SSJ3 as a retcon, he allows vegeta to goad him into a pissing contest for nothing. Instead of dealing with the threat he helped create he passes the buck to young kids. That doesn't show mat...

I found these polls from 2018. Re: Dub-fans, was there an adjustment period for you when Goku started to be portrayed correctly in DBS?
That's vague. What made him more like him in DB and DBZ? Because as far as I can tell much of it stems from a mistaken belief that he grew more serious and out of his desire for just battle. Is being more childlike in his glee for training and fighting that unlikeable? In my opinion, Goku was more ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Maybe Ikemoto is the problem. The first volume of Boruto sold a fraction of Naruto's final volume. I haven't read it but I can't imagine the quality of the first few chapters was so bad that sales dropped that much. It could be because it's a new artist so Boruto is treated like more of a spin-off ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Considering how the latest volume sold the least amount of copies and it isn't even half there yet (vol 13), I highly doubt it'll last an additional 17 volumes. Yeah I doubt it will but both Boruto and DBS are the two longest running series on V-Jump and not too far apart in sales so it's the only ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
The reason we started getting new content to begin with was due to the old content no longer being able to bring in the $$$ they wanted. Not only was the new animated content able to bring in more $$$, it continued to do so and bring in even more after its conclusion. From a business perspective, i...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
So we supported the franchise so hard it put the anime in purgatory? Is it just me being too focused on all the negative aspects, or does anyone else feel like this more of a punishment than a good thing? I have no idea. It's all speculation but I was thinking about how it changed from being a guar...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
If Dragon Quest is delaying the return of the TV series, this will definitely delay the next movie. Again, DB will eventually receive one or both, but that will take far longer than we'd like due to the franchise's current financial success. I remember when it was said "DB makes too much money not ...

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
A very above it all comment, and I believe every word by the way so I’m not taking the piss, but I remember how hard many people defended this years back. All the videos saying this is the true continuation of Dragon Ball and instant back lash of criticism. I also recall Salagir’s arrogant attitude...
