Re: Unpopular DB opinions
I like insane, sociopathic, and unattractively drawn Vegeta (from sagas 1-3) better than later "grumpy middle aged guy" Vegeta.

Re: Why does Tarble look so young?
Tarble couldn't be *that* young. The maximum he could be is 5-7 years younger than Vegeta, because of when their planet was destroyed.
Vegeta is likely in his 40s as of the end of the Buu saga, meaning that *at least* Tarble is in his thirties. That's not too young to be married, ROFL.

Re: Why does Tarble look so young?
He's probably just a dwarf.
Also, if you factor in the EU at least, King Vegeta was a huge man. Not like Piccolo-huge, but still quite tall. It makes me wonder why both of his kids were so short.
If Mom was a small woman, maybe the brothers got their height from her.
My dad is 6'4 and huge ...

Re: Why does Tarble look so young?
Tarble most likely born short which can explain why he looks so young. I guess Vegeta's mom was likely around the same size as well.
That has always been my headcanon with regard to Vegeta's height. A lot of fanfic authors and general fans like to assume there's a special reason he's such a short ...

Re: Why does Tarble look so young?
Tarble spent most of his time on a peaceable planet (as long as I'm not confusing fanon with canon).Bullza wrote:Well no but he's at most 5 years younger than Vegeta yet doesn't look half as old.
Vegeta has had a really hard life.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
I hate GT and the character design in it. I don't like the new look. I also barely recognize some of the characters because their look was changed so much (like, they changed Vegeta way too much). I guess this isn't an unpopular opinion, though.

Re: Western Style Dragon Ball Project
Your version of Vegeta looks really deranged and psychotic. Which I like, because my head canon of Vegeta is that he is.
And a super heroic reboot of Goku fits if it's a Western reboot, because you're filtering it through Western culture and this is how he'd be imagined if we came up with him, I ...

Piccolo always did something for me. Imagine my surprise upon learning he is from a species that reproduces asexually. Ah, well.

Re: Instances of filler you liked/disliked
Yes, please:
* The Space Orphans. It really fleshes out the horror of life in the Cold Empire.
* Goz and Mez.
* The filler in the Buu saga.
* The driving episode. I actually love it.
Nope, nope, nope:
* Most of Goku on Snake Way. Tedious as heck to watch.

Re: Why the Broly hate?
I gotta admit the part where Goku freaks out over Broly licking his own blood always makes me laugh .
T hat and V egeta is just :( in the first movie .
straight petrified (huh?)
I probably am the lone stranger, and it's an unpopular opinion...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Eh, after seeing Kai, Vegeta's story makes a lot more sense to me. Z makes him much more of a bastard. He's still a bastard, but now he's just a slightly recovered sociopathic mass murderer instead of a slightly recovered omnicidal, megalomaniac sociopathic mass murderer.

Re: Have you ever lost interest in the franchise?
I was a hard core Trekker forever, but the second Trek movie and a spate of uninteresting books kind of cooled that, and DB/DBZ took over again as my main fandom.
At some point DBZ will plateau again for me and I'll either rotate through my other fandoms, or I'll get into something new for a ...

Re: How often do you think of DB?
I think about it a lot (when I'm not working) because of social media; someone on Tumblr is always jarring my cogs. Or one of the blogs I follow puts up a neat bit of analysis.

Re: Have you ever lost interest in the franchise?
I've never truly lost interest in it. There are just times I haven't been very focused on it.
My two biggest fandoms have always been DBZ and Star Trek, with a few things I loved but was less into. I just tend to rotate through my fandoms (or sometimes pick up a new fandom) in terms of what I'm ...

Re: Members: How old are you?
40, and probably the oldest DB fan in existence, lol. I got into it when it was released as the Funimation dub, in my 20s. My best friend and I would watch it together on his tv and make fun of it at first but we gradually got really sucked in. I'm a huge geek, generally speaking, but not otherwise ...

Re: Why the Broly hate?
Broly is a ridiculous character who makes little sense, but I have to say this, DBZ is a ridiculous show that often makes little sense, I love it for that, and just don't have very high expectations.

I love Beers/Bills/Biris/etc.
He got me back into Dragon Ball fandom. He's a really interesting and unique character and not at all a generic bad guy, and I love the way he's so catlike in the way he's animated... Reminds me of any of the cats that I live with, lol.
