Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

You have to love the mutual cause and effort everyone has in participating here. It's just grunt work but they're each doing what they can to mitigate damage caused to the people and planet. Yamcha especially has been exemplary so far simply because it's the first time in ages where he's been involv...

Re: Actually, there is one reasonable way for Muten Roshi to get to at least SSB Gogeta level...

Toriyama's early work in the first two tournaments might have best demonstrated that process actually. You had oddities like Bacterian, Ranfan, and Man-Wolf with their unique fighting styles and abilities to distinguish them. The title matches both came with their plethora of unique powers as well....

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread

Let's have some Piccolo matches. Piccolo [Cell Games arc] vs SSG2 Vegeta [Post 1st RoSaT]. Piccolo [Cell Games arc] vs SS Goku [Post RoSaT; When he displayed his "around half power" to Korin]. Piccolo [Boo arc] vs Perfect Cell [vs SSG2 Vegeta/SSG3 Future Trunks]. Piccolo [Beerus arc] vs Cell Junior...

Re: Actually, there is one reasonable way for Muten Roshi to get to at least SSB Gogeta level...

When it comes to power levels, Toriyama isn't even all that imaginative in that area. Up until recently he just used a simplistic formula of stacking transformation after transformation upon each other in order to give his two leads the leg-up they needed to emerge victorious. It's not to say that ...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

Unfortunately I noticed the game stops trying after the Frieza saga. I'm well deep into the Cell saga, almost at the Cell games, and poor man Piccolo is 8 mil something. Base saiyans are 7 mil each more or less. To be honest, I don't have the humans measuring that much weaker than the base Saiyans ...

Re: Actually, there is one reasonable way for Muten Roshi to get to at least SSB Gogeta level...

Admittedly, Whis's psychological conditioning philosophy, i.e Mushin, does tie in eloquently with the journey of martial arts. I do agree that Earth's MAs should be given some more limelight and recognition, though. Goku started from there and it's where he got his self-admitted "Kung-Fu" from. If ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Was wondering what 7-3 copied from Gohan. Looks exactly like the rapid Chi-blasts used against Freeza on Namek. Not the most spectacular plagiarised technique to exploit -- but then Gohan isn't exactly known for having a wide plethora of unique powers, is he? We learn back in the Future Trunks arc ...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

Goku and Vegeta at 4mil is very respectable, imo. It would give them 200mil as SSj, quite a step up. If anything, I would argue that Vegeta should be stronger than Goku, since it was implied. Tien and Piccolo is where it's really weird. Piccolo should indeed be stronger than Goku and Vegeta in base...

You joke but I think it would be pretty cool if the training styles of the Earth Martial Arts got a little more respect. Everyone is off training with Kaoi's and Hakaishin and alien mentors and I'd kill for something, excuse the pun, a bit more down to Earth. Admittedly, Whis's psychological condit...

Re: The Future of DBS

I hear ideas such as exploration of the Makaioshins, the socio-political realm of the angels, and the unveiling of Zarama getting brought up a lot. Since the Tournament of Power we've had an underwhelming, in my opinion, rehash of one of the most notorious villains in the series and an attempt at co...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

I don't care for the minimalist interpretation of most of the humans' power levels there. We know the training they requested entailed something more difficult than what Goku had undertaken -- not to mention they were working with multiple sparring partners amongst each other. Yamcha was there almos...

Re: DB vs the moon

Since there's no longer any Oozaru tails to worry about, you might think either Kami or Dende would proceed in rebuilding it for the second and hopefully final time. Destroying Earth's natural satellite like that must have some ramifications for the planet. Although it's just as likely that Toriyama...

Re: What Would It Take For Krillin, Tien, Piccolo, and Yamcha to Catch up to Goku and Vegeta in a Satisfying Way?

Krillin was active during the General Blue section of the arc and the humans were eager to get their hands dirty during the main assault on the RRA base. Total tangent but... poor Lunch looked so blue balled when they got there and the whole base was already a ruin. I felt so sorry for her lol It w...

Re: Vegeta’s Spirit Control training on Yardrat is pretty much the ultimate potential unlock

In a matter of speaking Vegeta is harnessing his potential, yeah. What I'm concerned about, as mentioned in other topics, is the possibility of this layering of the Spirit Control concept as the universal nexus of unique powers and physiological traits. We already saw one of the Yardratians manipula...

Re: What Would It Take For Krillin, Tien, Piccolo, and Yamcha to Catch up to Goku and Vegeta in a Satisfying Way?

I would have said the same about #17 and Freeza but here we are years later and Toriyama was able to wrench them out of the gloom of irrelevancy and offer them new importance in some of the more recent arcs. Granted, they were largely blank slates with respect to their origins and capacity for power...

Re: How Much Weaker Was First Form Frieza During Planet Vegeta's Destruction?

Outside of the father-son sparring that Koitsukai mentioned, Freeza probably didn't do much of anything. In fact, unless Freeza's race is clarified to retain their power regardless of how much physical activity they engage in, you would think Freeza's body would have atrophied and grown weaker due t...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I mean, if Vegeta could resist mind control with pride, then I wouldn't be surprised if Goku could resist with 'guts' or some other simple shounen stuff. Like I mentioned before, if Babidi were truly capable of actually implementing his magic and bypassing PLs, then it'd be near impossible or unbel...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Near as I can tell, the Vegetto incident seemed to involve Buu trying to use his own mass in order to manipulate his opponent's body from the inside-out. Babidi's magic is described as transmitting his thoughts into his victims. I admit both do share some similarities with respect to their emphasis...

Re: Porunga shouldn't have been able to defuse Kibito-Kaioshin into 2

Didn't Kibito and Shin desire to revert back to their separate states? It wouldn't surprise me Porunga somehow acknowledged their sentiment and was allowed to defuse them. For me, a better question along these lines would be how Porunga was able to teleport Vegeta from Namek to Earth when he couldn'...
