Re: How Strong Does A Fighter Need To Be To Decimate An Entire Civilization?

Theoretically? Anyone of almost any level would be necessary to accomplish this. Dragon Ball isn't so inclined to properly flesh out the depth and facets of total war but if it did you would likely be seeing a scorched earth policy enacted with as many people as possible going underground while the ...

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread

What if the matches in the 21st DB tournament were switched around and most characters battled against different opponents? 1. Goku vs Bacterian 2. Krillin vs Nam 3. Yamcha vs Giran 4. Jackie Chun vs Ran Fan Since the touranments afterwards became progressively streamlined from a mechanics standpoin...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Matches Malone This is going to sound controversial and it wouldn't surprise me if you disagreed but I honestly would have liked to have seen Toriyama go all the way with having Gohan take the mantle of hero past the Cell arc. You had the foreshadowing and development of his potential going back al...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

If there is an interest and desire for Broly then that's the fans' perogative. I don't care personally for him but to each their own. Batistabus : It's funny you should mention the preceding skirmishes amongst the grunts. I enjoyed the cooperative effort with Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, and the cyborgs ag...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Those characters would have to be properly developed and incorporated into the narrative. For aforementioned reasons, Broly potentially could be. While I wouldn't personally agree that he's "stale" as he's largely unexplored, his ties to Freeza are nonetheless cause enough to organically introduce ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Can we have some of other characters involved with this continual martial progression we see in chapters? If we go that route, we need to do it with newer characters at this point. The previous arc already showed the structural ramifications of trying to shoehorn old side characters into stories th...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Wow! So much has already been said that reflects my own personal thoughts on the chapter. Granola is shaping up to be a more interesting addition to the characters than Moro was who remains to this day as being a sad dissapointment given his initial premise. Babidi was arguably more of an esoteric w...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

The one interesting direction for Freeza that could inject him with some much needed intrigue in the minds of fans would be if he became an Hakaishin candidate. Whis has been looking for a successor to Beerus and neither of the Saiyans are interested. Not only does Freeza have the eagerness and expe...

Re: Demon King Piccolo survives fight with Goku

A key difference which I feel needs to be pointed out is that Daimou represented the externalised manifestation of all humanity's darkness and evil festering inside the Child of Katas as he grew up in the remote tundra of Yunzabit Heights for 1-2 centuries. Piccolo Jr may be the reincarnation of Dai...

Re: Were Goku and Freeza fighting at their peak on Namek?

I suspect that they weren't at their optimal fighting power during the last bout. Goku couldn't even stand properly on his own when he transformed and Freeza, who seemed to incure the bulk of his damage from the Spirit Bomb, looked pretty weatherworn himself. Don't get me wrong. Super Saiyan definit...

Re: how much of Cell arriving a year before Freeza was an impact

You mean on the timeline? I think it was Trunks who contemplated the changes that were made as a result of the time machine and Cell appearing. On paper you wouldn't think that it was all too consequential as Cell was in his larval state and had soon afterwards burrowed into the earth to gestate. Wh...

Re: What does Vegeta think of Krillin and the Humans?

Indifference towards Tenshinhan, Yamcha, and Chaozu. None of them have really made a significant impression on Vegeta. Krillin is the only I could see Vegeta harbouring any respect for and that may have to do with the two of them sharing a foxhole against the Ginyu Force and Freeza. Granted, Tenshin...

Re: Why did Yamcha, Tien, Piccolo, and Chioatzu keep their bodies after death?

Beneficial to the broader world and universe as it may have been for the humans and Piccolo to sacrifice their lives against the Saiyans, I'm sceptical of that providing enough merit to qualify them for being allowed to retain their bodies. All of them have some pretty questionable backgrounds with ...

Re: If Gohan entered the ROSAT with Piccolo instead of Goku, how strong would he become?

Piccolo's insinuation of Goku being softhearted with his son does have a place in the manga as he made that observation back when Gohan proposed being trained by his father after he was resurrected during the Saiyan arc. Circumstances then corroborated what Piccolo was saying. It's a different story...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I'm a tad bit disgruntled at the lack of commendation for the draftees who fought against Moro and his group. You have Buu there and he was the original selected operative for handling Moro but far as anyone knows his participation ended after the debacle on Namek unless it was explained off-screen ...

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread

I think the argument could be made Piccolo surpassed Cell as far back as the Champa arc. We know his feat of holding the line against Frost who Vegeta subsequently transformed to take down exists. I would have suggested Buu being overtaken as well but Goku's confidence and prioritisation of Good Bu...

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread

A few fights here: - Krillin (Android arc) vs. Son Goku (base, no Kaioken - against Freeza on Namek) I think Krillin takes this handily. Krillin's energy was deemed usable for Gero's purposes of overtaking Vegeta alongside the other humans that were present and Piccolo and Gohan. If Krillin quantit...

Re: Would Goku still be the Super Saiyan if he never met aliens and never left Earth?

I agree that so many variables and divergences from the original event sequence would have to be accounted for when painting a picture of this new world. What we could certifiably conclude is that the Z-Warriors would be significantly weaker than how they turned out when confronted by impetuses that...

Re: Why did Kami not tell Goku that he was not from Earth?

Here are the panels depicting Kami talking about his real identity with highlights for the key part: https://i.imgur.com/ZPaBewH.jpg Yeah, Kami wasn't made aware of his alien ancestry until Vegeta and Nappa remarked on Piccolo's unusual nature. It's odd when you think back on how Popo described Kami...
