Trying to surpass Goku is his motivation in life. How is that going against his character?

I obviously have no basis for this, but I think Vegeta has grown on Toriyama. It has been known for a while that he disliked the character, but I think he's grown on him over the years. That and maybe he's acknowledging the fact that Vegeta is extremely popular among fans.

I wouldn't. We've been dealing with the same villains for years, over and over through the games. Let's focus entirely on new material from here on out.

Path to Power is a good one to show to a newcomer.

The fandom is different across the board. We all got into the franchise in different ways, but we all love it regardless. I see too much bickering and fighting amongst fans, but we really need to learn to accept the fact that not everyone has the same preferences as us.

It makes no logical sense how or why 17 would be there near the end of the series, but that's Toriyama for you.

I'm late to the party as far as this thread goes, but here are my general thoughts:

Resurrection 'F' was a fun experience. It had all the action and comedy you'd expect from Z-era Toriyama. It had it's issues, but overall I had a good time watching it.

I've always thought Movie 10 was worse than 11. I'm actually pretty shocked that it's even a debate to be honest.

For me, it's 232. That fight looked incredible.

This is an interesting topic. I can see why including a "hick" dialect would better indicate that Goku is uneducated, but I don't feel it's necessary in other languages. I think there are ways to display that point without using such a dialect.
